AECOM is seeking an Urban Designer to join our planning and strategic communications team in Boston, Massachusetts. The Urban Designer will use their creativity, communications and visualization skills to translate complex technical ideas into easy-to-understand content. This is a key position in the project team for a major transit program in the Boston area that involves delivering engaging design work to our clients and their audiences. The role involves close collaboration with the client, other agency departments, and project management team. The selected candidate will be actively involved in the preparation of presentations, correspondence, press releases, technical management plans, boards, and reports for multiple transit construction projects in various stages of design and construction. They will have an eye for design principles and hold their work to the highest brand and quality standards.
The successful candidate will:
+ Coordinate with multiple teams of communications, engineering, and project delivery professionals in a structured project delivery process.
+ Translate complex concepts into accessible communications that inform and educate stakeholders and the public.
+ Prepare or update graphics and copy for presentations, press releases, technical management plans, and reports.
+ Develop designs for a variety of print and web-based communications, including flyers, websites, and social media.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Civil Engineering or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.
+ Must be willing to work onsite in the office in Boston, MA
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 2+ years working in transportation, urban design, strategic communications, or related disciplines
+ Interest in transit planning and/or construction
+ Expertise preparing presentations and reports in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint
+ Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
+ Excellent attention to detail
+ Experience preparing materials for print production
+ Must be willing to work in-office in Boston, MA
