Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Must possess a high school diploma / GED.
  • Current Active TCOLE Peace Officer License OR out of state equivalent (must obtain TCOLE license within 3 months of hire date)


Preferred Qualifications
  • 60 College Credit Hours / Associates Degree.
  • Current Full Time Working Peace Officer.
  • Previous work experience in university policing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • TCOLE Proficiency Certificate above Basic Peace Officer.


Texas State University Police Department (TXST UPD) is a community and trust-based policing agency that serves a diverse population of approximately 38,000 students and additional faculty, staff, and visitors. Our police officers are skilled personnel who pursue excellence through training, education, and professional development. Our Officers have many opportunities to advance and sharpen their skills by working in the different sections of the department, such as K-9, investigations, bicycle patrol, motor units to include ATV training/patrol duties. Job Duties
  • Respond to police calls for service utilizing safe operation of a police vehicle.
  • Enforce State Laws, Local Ordinances, and all University Rules as appropriate.
  • Proper use of communication and recording equipment.
  • Complete and submit accurate police reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide proactive patrols of university owned, leased or operated property by foot, bike and vehicle to provide a visible deterrence to crime.
