Overview A Reserve Police Officer is a part-time police officer who works for a police department on an as-needed basis. Job Skills Required Reserve Police Officers must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to think quickly and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations. They must also have a strong knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, as well as the ability to operate a variety of law enforcement equipment. Job Qualifications Reserve Police Officers must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license. They must also have a high school diploma or GED, and must pass a background check and drug test. In some cases, applicants may be required to have prior law enforcement experience or a college degree.
