The Underwriting Manager will provide data analysis, pricing recommendations, and process support for the underwriting team. The Underwriting Manager is responsible for providing direction and leadership, and will serve as an expert consultant on matters pertaining to underwriting methodologies, financial considerations, product and program rollouts.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, create, and implement process improvements
- Ensure consistent interpretation and application of Underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures
- Provide consultation and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on Underwriting processes, methodologies, and practices
- Manage, train, mentor, and develop underwriting team members
- Problem and conflict resolution
- Balance customer, business and/or health plan needs or requests
- Develop and manage financial commitments while balancing internal/external customer needs
- Stay abreast of and communicate changes in Underwriting policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations
- Communicate with internal stakeholders (e.g., actuarial team; product group) to prepare for case/Delegation of Authority (DOA) review

Required Qualifications:
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Excel (LOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, Dashboard/Report Creation)
- 3+ years of experience with healthcare underwriting for any variety of products: PPO, HMO, Self-Funded, Level-Funded, ASO, Fully-Insured, Group, or Individual
- Ability to travel 10%
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Math, Finance, Business, or related degree
- 3+ years of demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and critical decision-making experience
- 1+ years of leadership experience (can be as a formal mentor, people leader, or other leadership experience)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- Availability to work with a hybrid schedule (in-office in Minnetonka and telecommute from home). Note: will consider full-time telecommute for the right candidate if aligned
- Proven ability to guide and influence cross-functional teams
- Proven effective personal communication skills in the areas of listening, speaking, and writing

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
