Transportation Supervisor Jobs

SUMMARY:
The Transportation Supervisor will be responsible to oversee routing, driver and delivery operations, scheduling and proper handling of product. This role will also supervise driver and delivery employees and company safety processes. This position will work cross-functionally with warehouse Operations to assure correct and timely loading of semi’s and delivery to depots. This role will also assure timely and proper loading of bobtails and provides work schedule for drivers including before and after deliveries. This position will work with warehouse Operations to guarantee accurate orders, on-time deliveries, and customer satisfaction.

• Comply with laws, regulations, and safety specifications
• Manage semi and bobtail employees to assure safe and timely departures and deliveries with the right product.
• Assure downloads match customer invoices.
• Researches, troubleshoots, and applies corrective actions with a sense of urgency for shortages, refusals, filling errors, not-on-trucks, missed deliveries, breakage, and incorrect invoices.
• May conduct joint visits with sales team to customers soliciting customer feedback.
• Monitor quantity, quality, delivery times, and efficiency
• Maintain constant communication and contact with sales team and customers as directed.
• Supervise, coach, and train driver staff members
• Should find and suggest creative ways to reduce the costs as to meet the goals stipulated in the 3-year plan.
• Manage driver’s company safety processes.
• Complete weekly driver and truck schedule
• In-directly responsible to meet the semi and depot budgeted costs.
• Create and track efficient timeline of deliveries
• Partner with risk management to assure Federal and Cal OSHA compliance.
• Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, and transportation
• Promote ongoing best-in-class customer service throughout all positions in delivery.
• Responsible for supply chain management
• Train drivers in right-communication skills for superior customer service and satisfaction.
• Train drivers to ensure right-time, efficient, and orderly delivery.
• Oversee and manages company assets’ repairs and maintenance to ensure safe and clean delivery vehicles.
• Control the flow of outgoing deliveries of company products
• Organizing and monitoring storage and distribution of goods to all entities in the company

• Manager responsible for 25 – 35 delivery drivers.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• At least 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics Management and/or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience in managing union and non-union employees, including grievances, arbitrations, and contract negotiations.
• Seven to ten years’ experience in supply chain analysis in consumer product goods or distribution industry.
• Must have a valid Class A or Class B California Driver’s License

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
• Strong planning, organization and analytical skills
• In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. supply chain, finance, customer service etc.)

• Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics

• Six Sigma Certification
• Prior experience in wholesale distribution.
• Lean or Six Sigma process experience.
