DESCRIPTION

The Equity Derivatives Trade Support Group (TSG) is responsible for a wide range of functions critical to the execution and support of exotic derivatives, structured products, and equity trades. Active communication between Sales, Trading, Controllers, Settlements, Client Service, IT, Compliance, and various other Ops areas is essential to the daily process. TSG owns the key controls within trade support operations, and acts as coordinator for day-to-day activities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Booking exotic derivative and structured note trades
  • Regulatory reporting of eligible trades to TRACE or ACT
  • Process end of day trades and run end of day reconciliation
  • Provide support for business process improvements which includes trade flow automation, capacity enhancements, control framework and new business initiatives
  • Reconciliation of trading positions to Risk (RV) and Firm's books and records (TAPS)
  • Reconcile all positions and products on a daily basis
  • Prepare metrics and reporting for senior management
  • Wash/Omni account reconciliation
  • Review various daily reports to resolve breaks and make needed trade amendments
  • Monitor events, corporate actions, expirations, and settlements which directly impact trading
  • Manage all back office settlement and control processes
  • Troubleshoot all issues which result from a new issue, new trade, or action on existing positions

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills Required
Personal Attributes:
With the traders as our clients, the candidate must develop a strong working relationship with each group of traders that they will cover.

In addition, a high level of competency with Excel is essential due to the extensive work involved from the bespoke technical analysis that is often required.
Business Knowledge:
  • A good understanding in fixed income derivatives is required with prior experience of a trade support role highly beneficial.
  • An in depth knowledge of how derivatives trade, price and life cycle events impact the firm.
  • Knowledge and experience with Compression activity (e.g. Tri-optima exercises) and clearing would be beneficial. The candidate has to be comfortable with moving and modifying large portfolios of risk around accurately and be cognizant of downstream implications too.

Professional Attributes:
  • Teamwork: Essential in a close team where each member will cover another in their absence. Knowledge sharing and assistance is a requirement to flatten out unequal workloads that may occur across the desk.
  • Working on a trading floor, the candidate must be professional at all times especially under high pressure situations.
  • Organisational Ability: Whilst the group is volume sensitive the exotic nature of some the products and the complex life cycle events require the candidate to be able to successfully organise and prioritise their work.
  • Communication: TSG is a key point of contact for all areas of the bank, the candidate must be able to clearly explain complex details to other interested parties and articulate the Ops perspective to the desk, communication must be done in a professional and timely manner.

Role is Hybrid and will require in office attendance 3 days/week.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $51,000 and $85,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
