Description


The Texas Regional Campus Advisor (CA) is a member of the The Jed Foundation (JED)’s Academic Programs Division and sits on the Academic Programs team and works directly with the Higher Education Programs team. This position is an excellent opportunity for higher education student affairs practitioners and/or mental health clinicians who are seeking to utilize their talents and create impact on a national level.


The CA will aid in the creation and implementation of strategic plans for member schools which supports in the preventative efforts surrounding student mental health, substance use/misuse, and suicide prevention efforts. The CA will engage in reviewing campus processes, programs, and protocols and analyze school-specific data to inform the strategies and guidance that they provide to the school. The Texas Regional Campus Advisor’s experience and knowledge of mental health, the higher education landscape, and campus systems will be utilized in the implementation and development of program delivery to university leadership. The CA will report to the Director, Academic Programs Texas Region and work closely with the entire Academic Programs Division and Higher Education Programs area.


The Texas Regional Campus Advisor role is dedicated to building community-level support in Texas and must live in Texas and have an in-depth understanding of the higher education landscape in Texas. This individual will work with their colleagues to develop and maintain local partnerships and engage local stakeholders.


This is a regional position, with the intention that Texas Regional Campus Advisors resides within an easy (approx. 60 min) commuting distance from an airport in Texas to facilitate transit within the region. This individual must have the ability and desire to travel to college campuses, conferences, regional internal meetings, and the JED headquarters office in NYC as needed. (40% travel)


Key Responsibilities


Relationship Building and Advising Support:


  • Build relationships with school contacts within your assigned portfolio.
  • Create presentations and reports for various internal and external audiences.
  • Assist with recruitment and expansion efforts in the Texas region as assigned by Academic Programs Division leadership.
  • Serve as a resource consultant to colleges and universities and JED staff by leveraging expertise to assist with other college mental health and related consulting projects, as assigned.
  • Provide ongoing support to participating JED Campus schools on mental health promotion, suicide, and substance use programming, services, and policies.
  • Assist schools in developing and executing strategic plans and measuring the efficacy of the mental health promotion efforts they implement on their campus.


Assessment, Data Analysis, and Reporting:


  • Aid campuses in the ongoing assessment of their efforts.
  • Complete tasks that align with various project plans and engage in sprint planning to ensure that we meet project deadlines.
  • Conduct programmatic reviews of campus systems within a portfolio of schools. Analyze student data of assigned campuses to inform support provided to schools. Draft feedback reports and executive summaries for campus stakeholders.
  • Utilize Salesforce to record and codify contacts with participating schools, tracking progress, types of intervention, utilization of resources, etc.
  • Conduct promising practices benchmarking and research for similar industry and college mental health initiatives.
  • Adapt coursework to assist various learners so that they are able to experience the same learning opportunities as others.
  • Identify changes that could be made to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to better adhere to delivery options for the course.
  • Trains employees in the facilitation of various training.
  • Assist with additional tasks that are asked by management.
  • Benchmark the work of campuses against a measurement rubric.
  • Assist in the development of instructor’s manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools.


Skills Knowledge and Expertise


  • Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook.
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and competency in supporting member campuses through virtual platforms and other forms of communication.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM systems strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience and confidence with presenting to large groups both in-person and virtually.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with individuals and organizations.
  • At least 3+ years of professional experience working in higher education in any of the following areas: counseling and/or health services, wellness, substance use, suicide prevention, student affairs, and/or public health.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Master’s degree required, preferably in higher education, psychology/sociology, counseling, public health, or a related field.


Pay Ranges / Location / Travel Information


Pay Ranges:


The range listed on this job posting is based on JED's compensation posting ranges. Salaries may be higher or lower depending on experience and geographic location.


Location/Travel Information:


Please note that this position is largely remote but will require retreat/business meetings at JED’s central office in NYC or other locations as designated by JED leadership. Additional travel may be required.
