Job Summary
Pilots University aircraft as a First Officer to provide transportation for official University business.
Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:
  • Emergencies
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Seasonal work
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads

Essential Functions
  • Preflights aircraft and assists with planning flight in accordance with Federal directives.
  • Serves as a First Officer for University aircraft flights by assisting the captain with passenger safety, comfort, and efficient operation of the University aircraft.


Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in discipline appropriate to position plus experience as a professional pilot.
  • Knowledge of how to apply fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization.
  • Knowledge of FAR’s and university/department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of part 91 operations in business aviation and strong customer service skills.



Desired Qualifications
First Officer – FAA Commercial Pilot certificate in appropriate category and class with Multi-Engine and instrument rating; Current Passport; Current FAA Class II medical certificate.
  • 100 hours ME Turbine Preferred. Familiar with
  • Part 91 operations in business aviation.
  • First Officer Minimums: 1500 hours total time,
  • 500 hours Pilot-in-Command, 250 hours in AMEL.
