Job Description

Position summary: The primary focus of the Territory Manager will be to work with select industrial distributors where we have qualified the distributor as an appropriate selling resource. There may be occasions where the Field Sales Representative must interact with our independent manufacturer’s representatives to support a key piece of existing business or to transition a select distributor to coverage by a different sales resource.

Purpose: To assist The M. K. Morse Company in increasing sales, market share and brand recognition.

  • Sales responsibility for select industrial distributors resulting in significant sales growth in bi-metal band and carbide tip saw blades for metal cutting applications.
  • Must have and maintain a safe driving record, a valid driver’s license and required insurance coverage.
  • Plan and coordinate with the technical service staff where assistance is needed for testing and maintenance at end-user level.
  • Provide the company with industry, end-user and distributor competitive information on band saw blades, including trends, new products and pricing information.
  • Must comply with all Company policies regarding expenses, travel, itineraries, call reports and pricing approvals.
  • Provide sales and technical support along with testing, training and problem solving for key accounts, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Plan and coordinate plant visits for targeted industrial end-users and distributors.
  • Compose trip reports covering all activities and sales contacts to established M. K. Morse standards.
  • Management and tracking of expenses.
  • Prepare monthly summary of activities including analysis of sales performance for all customers and planned activities to improve sales.
  • Plan efficient and effective sales calls, at least one week in advance, with approval of company staff.
  • Assist sales management and customer service with maintenance and implementation of pricing quotations and programs.
  • Recommend and present ideas for new products, specification changes and programs for industrial band saw blade users and distributors.
  • Develop new distributors in the industrial metal cutting band saw blade market.

Skills and experience:

  • Must be well organized and possess a strong work ethic.
  • 5+ years of sales experience in any of the following sales channels: Industrial, Construction, MRO or Welding.
  • Ability to develop and make effective sales presentations.
  • Proficient using Microsoft office and CRM.
  • Must have a high energy level and be a self starter.
  • Excellent communication, including very good written skills.
  • Strong math skills with ability to analyze sales activity reports and respond accordingly.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong leadership/team building skills.

Education Requirements: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

Region: Pacific NW to include; Washington, Oregon, Idaho & Montana

Location: Seattle, WA

Travel: Position requires 40-50% overnight travel.

Relocation: Must be willing to self-relocate if required.

Works with: All members of the customer service, sales, technical, quality departments and management.

Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The position requires a significant amount of travel by airplane and automobile. At times, the employee may drive for several hours to perform his job duties.
  • Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
