Position Description: The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management (https://knsm.tamu.edu) within the School of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University welcomes applications for our growing Sport Management program for three (3) full-time 9-month tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the rank of Associate or Assistant Professor based in the College Station campus. We look to appoint academic leaders and scholars who can commit to the discovery, learning, and engagement missions of the department. Applicants must have scholarly credentials commensurate with the rank of an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at an R1 University, a PhD with specialization and research interest in organizational behavior, marketing, analytics, and related disciplines, and possess a strong record of published research and external funding or demonstrate the potential to do so. With a commitment to teaching excellence, the successful candidates will balance academic research skills and industry networking capability to advance the department and student development. Service to the profession will also be required. We have three (3) full-time 9-month tenure-track/tenured positions at the assistant/associate level with opportunities for summer appointment. The expected start date is August 1, 2024. We will be concentrating on three focal areas:
- Management/Organizational behavior
- Marketing/Consumer behavior
- Economics/Analytics
Our Sport Management program has an internationally recognized history of accomplishment in instruction, research, and public service, and the department rates high in global rankings of both kinesiology and sport management. Our distinguished and multi-disciplinary faculty (9 Tenured/Tenure Track, 10 non-tenure track faculty) have generated hundreds of scientific journal articles, books, and technical reports and provided intellectual leadership across organizational behavior, sport marketing, and sport ecology worldwide.
We will continue our mission of generating and disseminating knowledge to increase understanding of relationships amongst people, environments, and the economy in responding to the needs across all areas of the sport sector. The department is committed to theoretical advancements and practical applications through our research and engagement with the sport sector. Our program, department, and university provide a supportive research setting as we strive to push the boundaries of the sport management discipline while expanding our interdisciplinary collaborations with other units within and beyond Texas A&M University.
Texas A&M University is a tier one research university close to Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. We offer a competitive salary, benefits, and startup package. Candidates will maintain a research program and seek external funding opportunities when appropriate while teaching and mentoring students. This position will contribute to the growing research, scholarship, and outreach of the department.
Preferred Experience: Proven publishing record in top journals (e.g., Web of Science, Australian Business Deans Council) Candidates will preferably be interested in developing relationships with industry to engage in educational opportunities, translational research, and service opportunities. Applications are also encouraged from those with an existing track record of research publications and external funding and holding junior faculty positions elsewhere.
Responsibilities: Candidates are expected to research, teach courses within the sport management program, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. This typically involves maintaining 50% research, 40% teaching, 10% service load. Successful candidates will be responsible for meeting department, school, and university service expectations.
