The Center for Research to Advance Community Health (ReACH) under the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio invites applications for a Biostatistican for its broad-based portfolio of population health and outcomes research. Founded in 2010 in partnership with the University of Texas School of Public Health and University Health System, the ReACH Center has a diverse array of federally- and state-funded research projects addressing major health threats to the population of South Texas and the nation.
The ReACH Center, directed by Joel Tsevat, MD, MPH, offers a unique environment for inter-disciplinary, collaborative research in a wide range of fields related to population health, health services research, patient-centered outcomes research, community-engaged research, and T3/T4 translational research. Opportunities are available for collaboration and affiliations with clinical departments in the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Health Professions, the UT School of Public Health, and Dell Medical School at UT Austin.
Candidates should be qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor /Associate Professor/ Professor level. Hiring Track (Tenure or NonTenure) to be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Candidates are expected to have experience as a collaborating statistician on a variety of study designs as well as expertise in using statistical software (e.g., R or SAS). Candidates must have expertise in a wide variety of analytic methods appropriate to health services research or population health research. Responsibilities of the position will include collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams engaged in population health research, health services research, patient-centered outcomes research, community-engaged research, health economics, health decision sciences, T3/T4 translational research, biomedical informatics, epidemiology, or value-based health care as well serving as leading methodological research for a thriving research center. The selected candidate will be expected to serve as principal investigator on externally-funded projects and as co-investigator with interdisciplinary research teams. Other responsibilities will include: developing new research grants, mentoring medical and graduate students as well as post-doctoral Population Health Fellows, engaging community partners, representing ReACH at regional, national and international meetings, and writing papers for publication.
Qualifications:
(1) An earned doctoral degree in Biostatistics or similar methodologic area; (2) a track record of obtaining peer‐reviewed external funding and publishing in the above areas; (3) excellent communication skills; (4) a strong work ethic; and (5) enthusiasm for team science.
