Part Time Professor Of Art History

SCAD Atlanta seeks a part-time professor of art history to provide students with the expertise to investigate and explain the complex relationships between context and cultural production.

As a professor of art history, you will join the SCAD team of more than 40 highly credentialed art history professors from diverse backgrounds to motivate students to think creatively and critically in an active and engaging learning environment. In art history coursework, you will help students gain a curiosity for creative inquiry, invention, critical thinking, and visual analysis. You will also guide students as they navigate historical and contemporary expressive practices through critical encounters with art, artifacts, and other forms of cultural production.

Located in the heart of midtown, SCAD Atlanta is nestled within a cultural landscape that is home to theaters, museums, fine art galleries, bustling shops, and countless green spaces, including Piedmont Park and Atlanta’s famed BeltLine. Through rotating exhibitions at SCAD museums and galleries and the university’s extensive permanent collection, you and your students have exclusive access to objects of study at the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film in Atlanta, and the university’s numerous galleries. Enriching signature events invite visiting artists from across the globe to engage in creative discourse. Recent guest artists have included Carlos Cruz-Diez, Alfredo Jaar, Carrie Mae Weems, Hank Willis Thomas, Dustin Yellin, and Omar Victor Diop to name a few.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in related discipline

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience at the collegiate level

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Ability to be credentialed through SACS guidelines or justified to teach
