Posting Summary
The School of Nursing is seeking one, non-tenure track 0.5 FTE faculty to teach nurse anesthesia and foundational courses within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)/Nurse Anesthesia Program. The successful candidate will become a valued faculty member of the Division of Advanced Nursing Practice with primary responsibilities of teaching nurse anesthesia and DNP Project courses for nurse anesthesia students. The position will be based primarily in Newark, NJ. We offer highly competitive salaries. The successful candidate will demonstrate the expertise and commitment to advance nursing practice through teaching excellence, scholarship, clinical expertise, and advisement/mentorship of our diverse community of DNP students. We are seeking diverse, visionary academic clinicians to make solid contributions to the scholarly growth of our students, school, university, and profession.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Update/develop, teach, and lead DNP nurse anesthesia and core/foundational graduate/DNP Project courses.

  • Participate in program recruitment, application review, student advisement and mentorship, and course and curricular review and updates.

  • Provide DNP project support and supervision, intellectual contributions leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals, and service are required.

  • Understand and adhere to compliance, code of conduct, and conflict of interest policies/standards of Rutgers University/Rutgers School of Nursing.

  • Understand and adhere to Accreditation Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Guidelines of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs (COA).

  • Teach theory and practicum courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels as appropriate.


Position Status

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • DNP, EdD, or PhD in nursing or related field
  • Eligibility for appointment at a minimum rank of Clinical Instructor, non-tenure track
  • Current clinical practice as a nurse anesthetist (CRNA)
  • Experience with DNP project completion/education and quality improvement projects


Certifications/Licenses
Nationally certified nurse anesthetist (CRNA)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with in-person and remote teaching venues
  • Ability to mentor graduate students
  • Interest and demonstrated expertise in teaching identified courses
  • Outstanding reading, editing, and writing skill and ability to help guide/support students
  • Didactic and clinical graduate teaching experience
