Job Description
Overview:
Nationwide Children's Hospital Research IT Research & Innovation Department (IT R&I) defines an Intern as a student or a recent graduate undergoing supervised practical training in their designated field of study.

We are looking for an undergrad or MA student intern to join the R&D division within IT R&I. The intern will have opportunities to work on multiple different type of projects, including but not limiting to designing technology related graphics/figures, creating marketing material for the Design and Technology team and assisting with audio and video multimedia content creation. Come and help to change the world in a job that really matters.

This is a part-time, paid position. Hours are flexible to accommodate class schedules. Our goal is to extend the internship throughout the year.

Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct
  • It is expected that all Interns will abide by Nationwide Children's Hospital Policies and procedures
Education
  • The Intern must be currently seeking or has recently received a Degree in a field related to Communications, Marketing, Broadcasting, Journalism or similar field
  • Intern roles are temporary in nature so it is the expectation that the individual will inquire and continue to learn about new opportunities within and outside of the hospital
  • Continues to stay actively enrolled or involved in outside education advancement
Teamwork, Collaboration, and Professionalism
  • Maintains a professional demeanor in conducting job duties and accepts accountability for their performance
  • Works with other IS staff in functional or cross-functional teams to meet goals, objectives, and responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains technical and professional skill levels
  • Fosters a team atmosphere within IS and other Hospital departments by interacting with others in an honest and straightforward manner, listening to and valuing the opinions and ideas of others, sharing knowledge, and helping others to accomplish goals
Job Specific
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Assist in planning outreach events
  • Layout written copy and visual content for newsletters and other promotion material
  • Assist with live-action video production
  • Write copy to assist Design and Technology team in areas of marketing and additional projects.
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in and actively pursuing a course of study related to Graphic Design, Multimedia, Marketing, Communications, or similar field.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills required to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to write engaging copy for marketing activities.
  • Education curriculum must be provided by a certified or licensed educational institution.
  • Excellent design skills and proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to meet job requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED Required.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Position requires the ability to interact effectively with customers and information systems personnel across the organization.
  • Traveling to various work areas throughout the hospital and potentially to off site locations.
  • Position requires ability to lift and move desktop computer equipment and printers.
  • Position requires ability to talk, listen and type.
  • Position may require standing for long periods of time.
