Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is looking for a qualified 3-D Environmental Artist to fill the role of a mid-level Technical Artist for their Advanced Modeling and Simulation Technical Operation. This person would work with a team that creates high-visibility 3-D environment training software and establish and maintain best practices in the organization for simulation and gaming.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Define, generate, and review software requirements documentation.
- Additional multimedia development experience may include (including but not limited to: Autodesk Maya, Blender, Audodesk Mudbox, ZBrush, Adobe Substance, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Scene and Autodesk AutoCAD)
- Creates highly detailed and real-world scale 3-D models and particle effects targeting simulation and training industry standard gaming engines.
- Additional responsibilities may include photography, animation, videography, web design, print production, and Virtual, Augmented, or Mixed Reality programming.
- This is an on site position with some travel required.
- Performs analysis, design, implementation, integration, testing, debugging, and maintenance to incorporate multimedia assets, including 3D and/or 2D graphics, streaming video, and audio, into virtual and other environments.
- Model, UV, texture, rig and animate meshes and particle effects with a focus on real time simulation environments in a game engine.
- Assets to be created to scale from various reference sources such as photos, measurements, line art, point cloud data and CAD templates as available.
- Performs or assists in developing a wide range of multimedia materials for various applications including, but not limited to, real-time simulation and training applications and assists in defining and supporting the production pipeline.
- Authors or assists in documenting of briefs, project or task plans, technical reports, and user manuals. Requires background with relevant multimedia development tools (including but not limited to: Autodesk 3DS Max, Adobe Photoshop, Affinity Photo, Unreal Engine, Autodesk Recap and Faro Scene), experience with 3D techniques (including modeling, texturing, materials, lighting, rigging and animation), and real time game engines (including Unreal, CryEngine, Unity) and asset production.
- Coordinates with instructional designers, engineers, artists, subject matter experts, and project professionals to employ a wide range of skills and software tools in support of the visual and technical designs for various virtual and other environments.
- Asset creation to include hardware, organic and character models as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Autodesk 3DS Max, Adobe Photoshop, Affinity Photo, Unreal Engine
- 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field OR
- 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field OR
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Requirements
- Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction.
- Ability to work both in a team and individually.
- Modeling, UV, texture, material creation, rigging, animation, particle effects creation
- Familiarity with file versionin software, specifically Tortoise SVN
- Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail.
