As an example, for a 4.0 credit course, the TA may be required to attend up to 4 hours of live class sessions on campus each week. One additional hour of prep time is provided to support collaboration with the course instructor and to perform other TA duties. TAs should ensure that they are not scheduled to attend another class in the same time slot as their assigned TA course.

Roles & Responsibilities: An overview of possible duties including class & technology support, student & faculty communications, and other duties as needed.

Faculty & Class Support: General faculty support to ensure faculty are prepared to design and lead hybrid class sessions, including but not limited to collaborating on course planning, attending all live/synchronous class sessions, and supporting online learners before, during, and after class meetings. TAs may also research and share ideas for blended class facilitation in consultation with DLINQ.

Technology Support: Learning academic technology systems including Poly Studio, Cisco videoconferencing, and Zoom. Troubleshooting equipment and systems when problems occur. Supporting instructor and online learners in troubleshooting issues with academic technology. Contacting Media Services/ITS as needed.

Peer Mentoring/TA Office Hours: Meeting with students outside of class to help students work through tech challenges and keep a pulse on any trends or concerns that might arise, while honoring student confidentiality and FERPA regulations.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Must not be a registered student in the course for which the teaching assistant is providing support.

  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain satisfactory academic progress toward degree completion throughout the duration of the teaching assistantship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A quick learner with a positive attitude amid significant change.
  • Prior classroom/teaching experience and/or experience facilitating online learning (i.e., meetings, professional development, classes) preferred, but not required.

Schedule and Logistics:
