Teacher Apprentice Jobs

Under the supervision of the Assistant Principal, the school psychologist, and inclusion coordinator oversees the inclusion team which consists of four inclusion support team members. In collaboration with the School's Child Study Team, observe and evaluate student behavior, identify students who require the assistance of the Inclusion Team and provide instructional classroom support for children with specific learning and/or social-emotional needs at UCLA Lab School in the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies (GSE&IS). Evaluate the needs of targeted students and collaborate in designing an intervention plan. Model various intervention techniques for classroom teaching assistants. Tutor and assist students individually, or in groups to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. Support students with emotional or behavioral problems. Train student interns and student volunteers in working with students with special learning and behavioral needs.

Required/Preferred
1. Skills in writing grammatically correct lesson plans and curriculum materials.

2. Skill in speaking clearly and simply to convey information and
directions to children.

3. Ability to work and speak to people of various social, cultural,
economic, and educational backgrounds to welcome and establish good working relationships with staff, parents and children.

4. Ability to apply teaching theory and approaches to relevant
classroom teaching. Skill to make learning aids which will strengthen lesson plans.

5. Ability to make inventory of curriculum materials and equipment for classroom use. Skill sufficient to operate audiovisual equipment and frequently used office machines.
