Position Summary

The Talent Development Manager - Leadership will be responsible for operationalizing and executing Under Armour’s leadership development solutions as well as orchestrating all core skills and elective training for the company globally with a keen focus on Sr. Managers and below people leaders. The individual may also serve as a thought partner in the development of our leadership and management development strategy, including our flagship leadership training and leadership electives. Further, this individual will set the strategy for our Armour U programming and be the primary architect of our core business skills training, and will support the organization for functional training. In this capacity, this person will be accountable for the design, development, deployment, and measurement of these courses to teammates globally. This person will identify and partner with vendors to provide learning solutions that align with our core competencies and values. This person will also develop and deploy the strategy to implement our Professional Development Days globally. This is a fast-paced role and requires exceptional project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership Development

  • Conduct Train-the-Trainer sessions for UA’s manager training program with internal and external partners to ensure consistent, high-quality facilitation of the course content in multiple languages as required
  • Lead efforts to coordinate UA Professional Development Days
  • Help shape and implement new ideas for building leadership strength and capability at Under Armour
  • Support team building and team development efforts as required
  • Conduct program administration as required
  • Continually assess leadership development training needs using a data-driven approach by consulting with stakeholders, conducting needs assessments, and reviewing other data to identify leadership gaps
  • Other duties as assigned to support talent development learning & development objectives and HR initiatives
  • Source and partner with external vendors and subject matter experts to provide unique leadership development experiences aligned to our business strategy and address leadership gaps for Sr. Manager and below leaders
  • Develop the Armour U strategy to determine Core and Leadership Electives
  • Coordinate the global delivery of UA’s manager training and elective leadership development program(s) for all Sr. Managers and below managing pre-work, communications, logistics, vendor requests, meeting space, and planned events with global HR Business Partners
  • Partner with functional stakeholders to provide training program guidance and support org initiatives
  • Continually update and innovate UA’s manager training and training materials to ensure it is relevant and deliverable to front-line people managers globally (i.e., The Manager Essentials Program)
  • Provide instructional design expertise as required to build leadership development content, presentations for projects and initiatives

Core and Functional Skills

  • Select and manage resources, including working with both internal teammates and training vendors to develop and deliver training
  • Coordinate the global delivery of UA’s manager training and elective leadership development content for all Sr. Managers and below managing pre-work, communications, logistics, vendor requests, meeting space, and planned events with global HR Business Partners
  • Conduct internal needs analysis to determine what business skills training programs would be most impactful to Under Armour given the strategic direction of the Company
  • Manage the technologies and collaborate with the personnel required to develop, manage and deliver training
  • Identify training needs using a data-driven approach by consulting with stakeholders, conducting needs assessments, and analyzing workforce plans
  • Oversee the training budget assigned for programs managed
  • Manage the quality of program/content design and delivery while ensuring a measurement strategy is in place to assess the effectiveness of the core skill curriculum
  • This individual will play the primary role in determining the instructor-led training programs available for (greater than) 5,000 Under Armour teammates globally
  • Serve as a consultant to the business for assigned functional areas
  • This role does not have any direct reports
  • Optimize training processes for efficiency and stay within budget
  • Develop and deliver training solutions that meet business needs

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Knowledge of learning and development best practices
  • Superb track record in developing and executing successful training programs
  • Must be a strong trainer and facilitator
  • Ability to create a plan to measure the impact of training
  • Strong project and program management skills
  • Working knowledge of an LMS
  • Ability to articulate how learning and development can support business strategy

Education And / Or Experience

  • Strong knowledge of training principles, methodologies (e.g., ADDIE), and adult learning theory with evidence of creative instructional design skills for a virtual workforce
  • Prior experience designing, delivering, and measuring leadership training for Managers and above required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Instructional Design, Organization Development or related discipline
  • At least 4+ years of experience in a corporate training function

Other Requirements

  • Experience supporting technical and functional training preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with different assessments such as MBTI or DiSC a plus
  • Organizational development and team-building skills a plus
  • Instructional Design Certificate preferred
  • Retail industry experience preferred
  • Work-Life Designation: Three (3) days a week in-office, the remainder of work week remote
  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our global headquarters in Baltimore, MD
  • Experience in course development software (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) a plus
  • Visual design skills (e.g., Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) a plus

Relocation & Salary

  • Base salary range: $98,514.00 - $135,457.30 USD


Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual’s relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
