The Advanced Capabilities and Systems Group is an agile, innovative, multi-disciplinary team developing novel system and technology concepts that address the nation’s critical security challenges. The group leverages focused analysis to understand solutions to defense and intelligence problems, and then develops the solutions in a fast cycle of experimentation and prototyping. Frequent engagements with government intelligence and military users connect the group to their unique missions and needs. Projects range from the analysis and prototyping of tactical military optics and radar systems, to investigation of novel communication, navigation, and autonomous systems. The multi-disciplinary team consists of talented technical staff with expertise in electromagnetics, optics, signal processing (communication, GPS), RF design, statistics, optimization, computer vision, machine learning, autonomous control, software engineering, and embedded systems.
Position Description
The Advanced Capabilities and Systems Group is seeking a systems administrator to become part of a small IT team that supports our analysis environment. They will work under the supervision of a senior systems administrator to build and maintain the groups computing and network infrastructure to provide IT support to the analysts as needed. The system administrator will need to develop creative technical solutions to complex IT problems. Qualified candidates must be able to expand and maintain computer hardware, software and networks for a variety of operating systems and provide direct desktop support to ~40 users as a part of a larger IT team. The candidate must possess a solid understanding of, Windows, network fundamentals and Active Directory, and DoD IT security requirements and procedures including RMF, DFARS, and CMMC. They should also be team oriented, have strong communication skills, have the desire to work in a research and development environment present a high level of professionalism, and be comfortable dealing with classified information in a closed area. Candidates with prior military or Department of Defense experience are encouraged to apply.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide direct user support on a regular basis
- Configure network devices such as routers and switches
- Work with centralized IT through Service Now ticketing system
- Represent the group as a team member for inter-organizational interactions such as infrastructure and security work groups
- Review and test new hardware and software to make recommendations for purchases
- Assist and facilitate high level VIP in person and virtual meetings
- Trouble shoot software in a complex rapidly changing environment
- Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade computers and network equipment
- Document IT Procedures
- Support Windows, Linux and Mac OS based platforms, applications, and users
- Manage networks, file share, virtual infrastructures and SAN/NAS environments
- Remediate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with security policies
Requirements
- Minimum of six years of experience supporting Windows and Linux systems including configuration management, software installation/configuration, and network configuration
- Demonstrated track record to work independently or in a managerial role
- Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance
- A current DoD 8570 level II or higher certification employment preferred. (Security+, SSCP, CISSP, etc)
- Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred) or equivalent experience
