Job Description
Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater.


Position Description


The Sustainability Coordinator will provide environmental support to projects, which includes a wide variety of roadway, drainage, park, and architecture design and construction activities. Additionally, this position will submit reports to city, state and to multiple major event organizations. This position provides project support to other teams and other project management staff.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Evaluates regulatory requirements.
  • Prepares permit applications where required by federal, state, or local environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares reports to submit to city and state
  • Conducts reviews and/or prepares technical project documents.
  • Assists with the development of project plans and schedules.
  • Conducts field reconnaissance efforts and site visits to collect data.
  • Conducts research and compilation of data in support of technical project documents obtained through web-based research, aerial photos, and survey reports.
  • Participates in agency consultations, project meetings and site visits
  • Prepares reports to F1, Dorna, FIA and FIM.
  • Maintains records of compliance with permit conditions.


Education


  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Geosciences, Environmental Studies, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other related study from an ABET accredited university.


Experience


  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in environmental regulatory coordination, inspections, project management.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities


  • Regulations and Section 404/Section 10 permitting, National Environmental Policy Act, ASTM standards for Phase I ESA, Texas Antiquities Code, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Texas Risk Reduction Program, Voluntary Cleanup Program, TPDES Stormwater General Permit for Construction Activities, Leaking Petroleum Storage Tank Cleanups, and Brownfields.
  • Good oral and written communication and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of the environmental issues regarding hazardous materials, wetlands, sensitive habitats, cultural resources, stormwater, and other regulatory considerations related to the development and construction of various public infrastructure projects.
  • Must be computer literate and can produce reports using Microsoft Office software.
  • A working Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental Regulations and standards, including: USACE Waters of the U.S (WOTUS).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or in a team environment.

Experience


  • 3-5 years of professional experience in Environmental consulting, environmental regulatory coordination, inspections, project management.


Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities


  • The ability to read and interpret engineering and Architect plans.
  • Able to utilize handheld Trimble GPS system to conduct environmental surveys.
  • A working knowledge of the most current versions of ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS desktop.


Position Type And Typical Hours Of Work


  • Monday - Friday | 40 hours per week


Work Environment


  • May be exposed to fluids, compounds or chemicals used in office environments and outdoor project areas.
  • Extensive use of a video display terminal (computer monitor).
  • Work is performed both indoors in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, air conditions and noise levels, as well as outdoors as dictated by work requirements.


Physical Demands


  • Occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds of force and/or a negligible amount of constant force necessary to move objects.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time with frequent standing and walking and occasional ascending/descending stairs.
  • Visits to outdoor locations for compliance verification visits - exposure to heat, humidity, rain, and wind.
