Role Summary
Environmental and Sustainability Manager for Fort Worth will engage with the team to drive a proactive EHS culture across the Fort Worth manufacturing and distribution sites. This leader will partner with the operations team to promote Wabtec’s Environmental and Sustainability programs. This position will require partnering cross functionally to understand environmental risk and compliance, and sustainability principals as well as general EHS responsibilities in manufacturing. In this role you will be responsible for environmental compliance including annual reporting, program and plan management, and outside agency relations. In this role you will also be responsible for making a positive impact to the culture of the facility through team member engagement, education, and involvement. This position requires working on-site as an essential function.
Hours
Hours onsite will be primarily day shift and have some overlap both day and nights as needed. Availability off shift hours for concern follow up or emergency response. Scheduling flexibility is required for this role.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work cooperatively with EHS Team on HQ initiatives, various projects, including GHG reduction, sustainability goals, and creating an inclusive culture.
- Complete routine inspections with respect to environmental permits and programs.
- Responsible for environmental regulatory compliance programs that meet or exceed all Federal, State, Local and Business best practices and standards.
- Conduct process, equipment and operations review from an environmental perspective.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through implementation of environmental related KPIs to measure the organization’s progress with site-specific goals.
- Ensure site personnel understand and comply with all environmental permits and programs. Implement solutions that drive compliance.
- Lead in the implementation of EHS Frameworks to ensure 100% compliance
- Documentation of compliance with all regulatory permitting and site plans.
- Work to implement solutions to ensure compliance with site environmental permits and plans. Engineering solutions should be given priority in this process.
- Conduct review of all proposed chemical additions from both and environmental and an industrial hygiene perspective.
- Work closely with operations teams to identify and address environmental related concerns
- Provide training for team members local regulatory training required by site environmental permits and plans.
- Provide input and execute actions on strategic and tactical leadership of site performance in meeting environmental goals and objectives.
- Review and track upcoming regulatory changes potential impacting Fort Worth facilities.
- Implement and audit regulatory requirements for site permits and plans.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Candidate should have experience with managing a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan under Industrial Stormwater permitting. Experience with Texas Industrial Stormwater Permit TXR050000 is a plus.
- Strong leadership, change execution, and financial management skills. Readily and actively contributes to the success of the team.
- Prior EHS/Environmental experience 3-5 years min
- Relocation may be provided if you meet eligibility requirements.
- Candidate should be knowledgeable of RCRA waste regulations and currently have or be willing to obtain certification to be able to sign waste manifests. Knowledge of Texas-specific waste management is a plus.
- Ability to act as change agent through interactions with others.
- Candidate should have experience with managing a Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure plan.
- Ability to work and flex shift hours and be flexible to support cross-shift and cross-functional initiatives.
- Must be able to adhere to standards, do a quality job in a safe manner and within acceptable time frame.
- Chemical management, review and approval knowledge is a plus.
- Candidate should have training for DOT hazardous materials shipping or be willing to successfully complete training.
- Familiarity with managing environmental programs using the TCEQ Steers program is a plus.
- Candidate should have experience with annual EPCRA reporting.
- Bachelors’ degree in health sciences, safety engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field Or Minimum of 5+ years in a related leadership role in a multi-national organization or Military veteran with experience in respective field.
- Strong understanding of current technology applications used in EHS and a curiosity and willingness to embrace future technologies to further improve EHS performance.
- Exercises vision and sound judgment at local level. Must be willing to tackle tough issues with tact and diplomacy in a timely fashion.
- Must be willing to work as necessary to meet requirements of the position, including the ability to work occasional weekends and scheduled overtime.
- Candidate should have experience with managing an industrial air permit. Experience in managing a Title V permit and knowledge of industrial painting operations is a plus. Knowledge of TCEQ PBR authorizations is a plus.
Desired Characteristics:
- RCRA, DOT, Industrial Hygiene, Stormwater, or other environmental training.
- Six Sigma training or equivalent Quality training.
- Prior experience in managing environmental permits and plans in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience managing teams and leading cross functionally.
- Ability to lead process implementation in a teaming environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA, RCRA, CAA, NPDES, TSCA, CWA, and DOT regulations.
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks.
