Required Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be
  • Considered.
  • Four years of experience in program coordination or related areas.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree in applicable field (Public Health) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of The Graduate and Professional School policies and processes (DPSS, ARCS).
  • Six years of related experience


Responsibilities:


  • Evaluation: Creates assessments and reports to evaluate the matriculation, retention, and other benchmarks for online programs. Works with the Assistant Dean of Graduate Student Services to advocate for student support and programming in the following areas: advising/curriculum planning, support services, and student satisfaction. May assist the Assistant Director of Career Services to plan for workshops and counseling for students’ career development.
  • Advising: Advises students for course selection, registration, academic planning, career and educational goal-setting, appropriate resources, transitioning to the university, and retention issues. Advises in both group and individual settings with current and prospective students. Interprets State, University, and college policies and procedures. Maintains accurate records of student contacts. Advises students with academic, probationary, and financial concerns and determines possible courses of action, when appropriate. Meets with and refers students to available resources and departments. Promotes student learning, development, and personal growth to empower self-sufficiency. Provides students with proactive referrals to appropriate resources and timely reminders, and other targeted individual and group communications using email, texting, and social media. Adds certificate programs into the University Adjustment System, when applicable. Approves/enters course substitutions, add/drops, Q drops, withdraws, and change of curriculums. Approves and signs, as needed: no grade drops, no record drops, and applications for readmission. Collaborates with others to create probation letters as needed. Monitors student probationary terms. Serves on scholarship committees as needed. Supports the academic advising team to identify course interest and availability. Coordinates with the Director of Curricular Services to determine course offerings based on the sequences offered. Consults with the Director of Academic Technology to ensure delivery of online programs is effective. Serves on the SPH Curriculum Committee as an ad hoc member as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Online Degree Programs: Plans, develops, directs, and coordinates online degree program offerings (i.e., Masters in Public Health) to meet SPH enrollment targets, department goals, and accrediting expectations. Represents the online degree programs on various committees at SPH, TAMU, and the Association of Schools and Programs in Public Health (ASPPH). Works with SPH-Graduate Student Services, TAMU (including The Graduate and Professional School and Registrar’s Office), ASPPH, and our accrediting body, Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) to create and maintain policies for online degree programs. Participates in developing strategic plans based on department and school goals. Plans budget for the online programs with the departments, Graduate Student Services, and Business Affairs under their supervision and assists the Assistant Dean in planning and budgeting for online programs.
