Riverpoint Medical in Portland Oregon is looking to hire a Director of Supply Chain. At Riverpoint you will be part of the process that brings great technology to Medical, Dental and Veterinary markets. We specialize in the design and manufacturing of premium medical devices. Our ingenuity can be found in our suture technologies, sports medicine fibers and anchors, surgical lighting, and special needle technologies. The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for managing the production planning, purchasing, and warehouse teams to maximize the process efficiency and productivity while delivering improved performance year over year. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing strategies, ensuring effective inventory control practices, and leading the company sales, inventory, and operations planning (SIOP) process. This role will require an effective balance of strategic leadership and hands on support of the department to effectively meet company objectives, including direct oversight of strategic supplies, MRP system and other actions required to support supply continuity.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
- Lead changes in inventory as necessitated by outside influences such as shortages or factors such as forecast changes, lead-time changes, engineering change and part usage changes.
- Work directly with product development and engineering teams to support sourcing activities and supplier selection.
- Periodic justification and disposal of E & O inventory.
- Drive success in a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively with suppliers, internal customers, peers, and senior management.
- Ensure the team has the skills, tools, and structure to support company needs.
- Manage Inventory levels and responsible for meeting inventory goals.
- Manage and monitor the cycle count program.
- Promote continuous improvement in all aspects of the department operations.
- Manage and oversee inventory control processes, including cycle count program and physical inventory, ensuring high levels of inventory accuracy and control
- Implement “best-practices” regarding the Purchasing and Inventory Management discipline.
- Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, shipping and receiving.
- Create a culture that fosters a sense of urgency, excellence, and accountability.
- Develop, document, and maintain supply chain, procurement, and inventory management standard operating procedures.
- Source and develop reliable suppliers resulting in the procurement of cost competitive, high-quality materials with timely delivery and minimal inventory.
- Continually measure, monitor, and analyze supplier quality, delivery, and service performance. Coordinate corrective actions as required.
- Determine excess and obsolete inventory – work with finance on reserve amounts.
- Manage the physical inventory process.
- Develop production planning and forecasting best practices to improve efficiency.
- Develop supplier specific strategies in accordance with organization’s requirements and work with internal stakeholders to develop vendor compliance programs.
- Work with plant personnel to optimize inventories and increase turns.
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies and partnerships, tools and programs focused on achieving organizational goals.
- Monitor buying practices to obtain the best price and delivery performance, balanced with controlling inventory investment.
- Develop and lead the Supply Chain Management team to support production including Planning, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams.
- Design and execute key performance indicators to monitor department’s performance and take corrective actions to mitigate risks and issues.
- Ensure scalability of the teams’ capabilities and processes
- Incrementally improve plant wide inventory disciplines, accountability, and accuracy.
- Overall responsibility for Inventory Management; including the proper design, controls, training, and documentation of applicable part master setup.
- Responsible for freight and logistics.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly manage employees in the Supply Chain Organization (Purchasing, Planning, and Warehouse). Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and performance of employees.
- Mentor, develop and train employees.
- Manage the hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, and termination of employees.
- Ensure on-going feedback to employees and complete performance and talent reviews.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3 years in leadership / management position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- 10 years procurement and materials management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- APICS or CPIM preferred
- Knowledge and experience with lean concepts and tools,
- Engineering or technical background a plus.
