Job Summary:
The Supply Chain Director is responsible for strategic sourcing and logistics in support of global manufacturing. This position manages a team of commodity managers, buyers and logistics professionals for Inogen domestic and a contract manufacturer in Europe. The Supply Chain Director will be responsible for improving PPV, freight costs, delivery, supplier quality through a preferred supplier strategy, savings funnel management, supplier selection and building a high-performance team, while maintaining regulatory compliance. This position will work closely with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing and RA/QA functions to insure a smooth transition of new products from development to production.
Responsibilities (Specific tasks, duties, essential functions of the job)
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Effectively manage Europe contract manufacturing, ensuring on-time shipment to customers, while achieving cost and quality objectives.
- Continuously improve associate engagement through effective leadership, communication and action-planning the annual survey improvement areas.
- Ensure that suppliers and the sourcing team are adhering to regulatory requirements of the FDA, SOX and government trade regulations.
- Improve raw material inventory turns through the deployment of supplier stocking programs, lead-time reduction and vendor-managed inventory (VMI)
- Develop and implement a preferred supplier strategy that improves supply assurance, business continuity, raw material quality, delivery and cost, while meeting the needs of product development & compliance (ROHS, FCPA, FDA, ESG).
- Review, approve and monitor, in collaboration with Quality and Engineering, the selection and retention of qualified suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Participate on New Product Development teams, ensuring the on-time delivery of new products and targeted quality and cost targets.
- Work in collaboration with Engineering and suppliers to identify and take advantage of specific cost reduction opportunities; ranging from simple negotiations associated with demand changes to extensive projects associated with design modifications (VAVE).
- Build an organization structure and high-performing team that can support a growing business.
- Assist with any other duties as assigned.
- Effectively operate within the regulations of a class-2 medical device.
- Improve material standard cost through the deployment of annual cost reduction initiatives.

- Experience with development, implementation and budgetary controls related to custom designed parts and the associated tooling.
- Some traveling is required for supplier selection and management activities.

- Strong manufacturing process and systems knowledge at both the tactical and strategic level.
- Requires up to 15% travel (domestic & international).
- Attention to detail is required.
- Ability to effectively interface with different departments within the company.
- Effective and experienced negotiator.
Qualifications (Experience and Education)
- 6 years management experience, with a minimum of five direct reports, required.
- Advanced knowledge/proficiency in ERP systems, required; Oracle, preferred
- A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- MBA or advanced degree in management or professional certification in manufacturing discipline, preferred.
- 12-15 years’ experience in supply chain management (purchasing, logistics, planning or product development). Including experience in supplier negotiations, new product development processes, project management & VAVE.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related discipline, required.
- Professional designation (CPM, CPIM, or similar SPICS Certification), preferred.
- Advanced knowledge/proficiency in Microsoft Office, required.
