Responsible for onboarding new students with disabilities. This includes, but is not limited to, reviewing disability-related documentation, meeting with, and determining appropriate accommodations, supportive services for students, and providing appropriate referrals to university and community-based resources. This position serves as a liaison to faculty and staff, consulting with colleagues to ensure appropriate implementation of academic accommodations.New hires must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including any boosters recommended by the CDC) and demonstrate proof of vaccination upon hire unless you are exempt from this requirement under state law or have an approved medical or religious accommodation.

The hiring range for this position is $64,480.00 - $66,918.00. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: geographical location, knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.
TYPE OF SUPERVISION:
Receive general supervision from the Associate Director, Office of Accessible Education.
- General Supervision — indicates that the incumbent performs a variety of duties; some of which may be complex duties within established policy guidelines; and receives occasional supervision.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Percentage
- Conducts Access Meetings with new students and determines appropriate level of services (provisional, temporary, permanent), and makes recommendations for accommodations, services, and referrals.
- Evaluates student documentation and provides eligibility determination for accommodations in accordance with ADA, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and ADAA.
- Consults and collaborates with campus partners (e.g., faculty, IT, Center for Instructional Innovation, providers, etc.) to coordinate reasonable accommodations.
- Performs case management activities and ongoing support for students and faculty.
- Maintains appropriate records in the OAE database by documenting communication with, and regarding students, courses, and instructors.

- Leadership coordination in scheduling and ensuring proper implementation of communication access services (CART, ASL interpreting, closed captioning).
- Provides training and programming about the Office of Accessible Education and students with disabilities to campus constituents.

- Contributes to the development and implementation of departmental assessment and evaluation plans to determine service effectiveness.
- Participates in professional development activities through presentation, publications, attendance at conferences and/or related activities.
- Supports other staff members of the department and performs other duties as assigned.
- Partner with Assistive Technology Specialist and course developers to maintain processes for tracking accessible educational content in Blackboard courses. Coordinate with textbook publishers to provide ADA compliant e-textbooks and accessible educational content in Blackboard courses.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:
- Two years of professional experience working with adolescents and/or adults with disabilities in an educational or comparable institutional setting.
- Experience reviewing and/or interpreting disability documentation (e.g., psychological assessments, special education records, audiology reports, etc.) for the purpose of determining reasonable accommodations.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, psychology, rehabilitation, counseling, or a closely related field.
- Experience with communication services including auxiliary aids, CART and ASL interpreting.
Desired:
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience working with adolescents and/or adults with disabilities in an educational or comparable institutional setting.
- Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, psychology, social work, vocational rehabilitation, special education, or closely related field.
- Experience with assistive technology and textbooks in alternative format.
- Experience working with students with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to work creatively, innovatively, and independently while under pressure.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential materials and matters and determine when to escalate matters to the supervisor.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to lead presentations and interact effectively with students, staff, and faculty at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of Federal, state, and local laws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations pertaining to student privacy, FERPA, ADA, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation ACT, and ADAAA (2008).
- Knowledge and experience in analyzing complex situations and identifying solutions.
- Experience developing and delivering training workshops and webinars with limited direction and guidance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to interact professionally, share and gather information, and respond appropriately to student, staff and faculty needs.
- Ability to make recommendations for improvement and devise new or improve existing procedures and work methods.
- Advanced level of experience in learning management systems, databases, web conferencing technologies, Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software: Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint and databases. Experience with Maxient, Argos, AIM, Banner, Blackboard, and competency-based educational software is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Position may be required to work flexible hours particularly given campuses’ extended hours of operation and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
