The next stage in the entertainment evolution. For 10 years, independent creators have outpaced and outgrown traditional networks. As they’re growth has slowed, ours has only sped up. What were once considered a novelty, or worse, fads, now have audiences that eclipse the biggest TV networks.

Made In Network started in 2013. It’s a familiar story, we grabbed some cameras, our friends, and created a bunch of YouTube channels. The channels grew to a few thousand subscribers, then a few million, then came the brand deals, and product lines and media empires. Fast forward to today; we’re a powerhouse of 12 independent brands with 150M combined subscribers generating over 800M monthly views. That’s 5 Billion minutes watched PER MONTH.

What are we looking for:

We are currently looking for a Researcher to be part of our remote team working on a True Crime / Murder Mystery podcast series.

We’re HQ’d in Nashville, LA and NYC, but you can be anywhere.

This is a full time role.

What you’ll be working on:

You will be executing the research requests from the writer’s room of a successful weekly true crime podcast series.

The task at hand:

• Communicate directly with the host and writing staff to expand on research and answer additional questions.
• Analyze court cases, track down articles, cite sources and add additional color and commentary to the research itself.
• Adhere to ethical guidelines, ensuring sensitivity and respect for victims and their families.
• Compile detailed case notes, timelines, and profiles of key individuals involved.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in the true crime community and suggest relevant topics for upcoming episodes.
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of the content.
• Conduct thorough research on various true crime and murder mystery cases, both solved and unsolved.
• Ensure all research materials are organized, archived, and easily accessible for future reference.

The ideal candidate has or does most of this stuff:

• Strong communication skills - both longform and memes.
• Knowledge of appropriate research methods, citations, etc.
• A knack for storytelling with a focus on hard facts.
• Collaborative, and willing to learn our style of storytelling.
• A willingness to learn and an adaptable work ethic.
• A LOVE and OBSESSION with true crime.
• Adaptable and efficient. You can move fast and change directions quickly.
• A passion for details and deep research: court transcripts, interviews etc.
• A cool, calm and collected approach to problem solving
• Familiarity with court documents and conducting online research.
• A journalistic instinct. Great research skills and a deep curiosity.
• Highly detail oriented.
• Strong self-awareness and a solutions-first attitude
