Job Description

The Brain Tumor Center at UCSF focuses on developing new treatments for patients by studying the mechanisms through which brain tumors develop and grow. Research in the Raleigh laboratory makes use of molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, mouse models of meningioma, genomics, bioinformatics, pharmacology, and multidisciplinary collaborations to gain new insights into the molecular determinants of brain tumor behavior. Our team is comprised of cancer biologists, surgeons, computational scientists, and physician-scientists working together to advance understanding of cancer biology and improve patient outcomes. Scientific insights stemming from our work have directly inspired clinical trials and changed treatment options for patients at UCSF and beyond.
Highly motivated individuals with prior laboratory experience are being recruited. SRA responsibilities will include cell culture, CRISPR gene editing, molecular biology, biochemistry, genomic sequencing, immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry, spatial proteomics/transcriptomics, organoids and mouse models of meningioma.
Prior familiarity with these techniques is a plus, and a willingness to learn new techniques is expected. Current laboratory members include graduate, medical, and medical scientist training program students at UCSF as well as research residents and postdoctoral fellows.
This position will focus specifically on understanding how the tumor mutations in meningioma drive skull hyperostosis under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Eze Goldschmidt and David Raleigh. In addition, the successful applicant will receive direct mentorship from Dr. Raleigh, Goldschmidt and Eaton to ensure specific laboratory responsibilities are directed toward big picture career objectives – which can include clinical exposure to the operating room.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
