Job Description
Location:

Treating members to financial peace of mind.

Laurel Road, a brand of KeyBank National Association and a proud leader in the fintech banking space, is committed to providing our members with industry leading and digital first financial solutions and products. All offerings have been constructed to help our member build a bright financial future. The Laurel Road brand brings with it award-winning service, over $12 billion in funded loans, proven success in the digital lending space and a core set of banking products including mortgages, student loan refinancing, personal loans, credit cards, deposit accounts, financial education and our online/mobile banking applications.

The Laurel Road brand also brings with it a hyper focus on the Healthcare industry. With the launch of Laurel Road for Doctors, a new suite of products and services for doctors, we’ve expanded our commitment to treating doctors to financial peace of mind. From physician mortgages to checking, savings and credit products that help them pay down med school loans, we believe those serving others deserve the same level of care from their bank.

About the Job:

We empower our product team to solve hard problems – member problems and business problems – in ways that our members love, yet work for Laurel Road.

Our product team maintains the skills necessary to come up with effective solutions that are valuable (to our members and prospects), viable (the solution works within the many constraints of the business model), usable (the end user can figure out how to use) and feasible (our engineers have the skills and technology to implement).

Our team is comprised of talented product designers, accountable for ensuring the solution is usable, engineers and technical product managers who are accountable for ensuring the solution is feasible, and the Sr Product Manager is accountable for ensuring the solution is valuable, viable, and profitable.

We know that innovation thrives on product teams where diverse points of view come together to solve hard problems in ways that are just now possible. As such, we explicitly seek people that bring diverse life experiences, diverse educational backgrounds, diverse cultures, and diverse work experiences. Please be prepared to share with us how your perspective will bring something unique and valuable to Laurel Road.

This job is currently an individual contributor role. You will need to be able to influence your teammates, as well as colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives, through your use of data and logic.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate Across Teams: While each member of the broader team may be accountable for a specific risk, the Sr Product Manager understands that consistent innovation is the result of each member of the team contributing their passion and their ideas. The Sr Product Manager must collaborate closely with the entire team to discover effective solutions, and then work together to deliver those solutions to market.
  • Manage Performance: While we empower our product teams to figure out the best solutions to the problems that need to be solved, we also hold those teams accountable to the results. Shipping is necessary, but not sufficient. The Sr Product Manager owns the results, even when this means they have to work through others to achieve the necessary results. Decisions are expected to be data driven and measurable aligning with overall business and company priorities.
  • End to End Product Ownership: The Sr Product Manager must contribute to their team a solid knowledge of the various constraints of the business – constraints from marketing, sales, service, finance, risk, legal, compliance, fraud, and privacy—to name a few. The Sr Product Manager must also contribute a deep knowledge of our prospects and members, and the data about how our members engage with our products. Finally, the Sr Product Manager is expected to track industry trends and the competitive landscape as they pertain to their product to produce the best solution possible.
  • Leadership: You are responsible to create, build, maintain, and implement the team’s strategy, vision, roadmap initiatives and projects. Working with top talent in a fast-paced environment, setting data quality, governance, and visualization in a simplistic manner are top priorities. Develop and maintain policies and procedures necessary for the correct functioning of the area.

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • A strong understanding of consumer banking including lending, deposits, and credit risk
  • Expert experience in creating product briefings and presenting to executive leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative.
  • 2+ years working on technology-powered banking products.
  • Experience in finance, banking, fintech, and product management
  • Proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of business – engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and delivery.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
