Position Summary

As the Sr. Manager, Employee Relations, you will be responsible for a wide array of employment-related matters including, but not limited to investigations of internal complaints, employee training/discipline/involuntary termination recommendations, development and administration of workplace policies, and other workforce matters. This role designs, executes and enhances existing employment practices and workplace policies/best practices to maintain legal compliance, improve employee relations, and ensure the working environment at Stryker is one of inclusion and belonging. Using a thorough understanding of workplace best practices, organizational dynamics, and comprehensive experience, this role engages and provides expert counsel to stakeholders located across our locations, partnering closely with business leaders, HR Leaders, HR Business Partners, global HR Centers of Excellence, and the Legal department.

What you will do

As an employee relations and HR investigations expert, you are responsible for managing and conducting HR investigations as well as providing counsel and advice to HR leaders and HRBPs on employee relations matters for the employee’s assigned geography/businesses. This individual may also provide direct management and guidance to employee relations specialists. The individual in this position will also be responsible for leading Stryker’s response to challenging and/or sensitive employee relations matters and must be able to influence and lead business leaders and HR leaders regarding these matters.

  • Works with Employee Relations, to develop, define and deliver the employee relations and HR Investigation strategy and delivery model.

  • Leads and conducts HR investigations for employee’s area(s) of responsibility. Including intake processes, investigation planning and interviews, recommendation and determination, and reporting/insights analysis. Communicates and updates status of investigations to relevant leaders, managers, HR Leaders and HRBPs. Makes recommendations to division leadership regarding investigations and employee relations issues.

  • Analyzes HR investigations, employee relations and other data trends to address and mitigate risk and support and drive our culture of integrity. Develops strategies and recommendations to address and mitigate issues.
  • Responds to alleged violation of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of conduct through the initiation of appropriate investigation procedures in partnership with Legal, Compliance and local HR teams.

  • Provides counsel and advice to leaders, manages and HR regarding employee relations issues, submits recommendations on addressing employee relations matters and assists with taking steps in response

  • Develops and delivers training to leaders, managers, HR Leaders and HRBPs, including processes and standards for disciplinary issues.

  • Coordinates with compliance and legal regarding employee discipline for compliance investigations that are not work environment matters

  • Maintains high level of knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations, and periodically reviews and updates applicable standards, trends and issues affecting the company work environment and policies.

  • Partners with business and HR leaders to leverage the HR service delivery capabilities to their fullest potential

What you need

  • 5+ years business-facing HR, HR COE, HR Operations, or role-related experience preferred
  • Previous HR or role-related experience required
  • 10+ years of work experience required
  • Experience developing talent and building high performing teams
  • Experience in multiple HR disciplines or client groups preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
  • Proven ability to partner with leaders at all levels to provide effective and strategic employee relations counsel
  • 4+ years of people leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to gather and analyze data to influence and present the why behind recommendations

$122,800 min - $208,700 max salary plus bonus eligible + Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program, Wellbeing Program, Employee Stock Purchase Program).
