Overview
Responsible for sourcing, supplier/carrier relationships, compliance and strategic direction across our organization for Freight & Logistics.
Responsibilities
· Will have responsibility for leadership and direction of Logistics & Freight across our network, including manufacturing facilities, distribution centers, drop-ship and 3PL
· Provide overall strategic direction for the Freight and Logistics function across our organization
· Responsible with the SVP Procurement for Logistics bidding processes, supplier selection and supplier management. Processes and network design should optimize service level and cost
· Work with the Procurement team to ensure that all suppliers comply with the freight selection and billing processes
· Work collaboratively with all functions to build programs and measure/drive compliance to reduce freight and logistics costs
· Setup and own processes for measuring the performance of logistics suppliers and using those metrics in the supplier selection process
· Understand and stay connected to changes in worldwide logistics to mitigate impacts of macro-events such as strikes, changes in laws & regulations, etc.
· Own and maintain relationships with key suppliers and potential suppliers
· Analyze freight & logistics data for compliance, development of opportunities, to support bid packages and maintain metrics
· Maintain and present KPI’s monthly to senior leadership including savings, compliance and performance
· Participate in teams to drive higher levels of customer support and cost reduction
· Actively manage relationships across Sonny’s manufacturing plants, distribution centers, distributors
· Ensures all Logistics and Procurement personnel are knowledgeable of applicable OSHA, Hazmat and other regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in Logistics including development of logistics strategy, execution, creation of processes and procedures, freight bidding and implementation of processes that are adhered to and drive a high level of customer service
· Knowledge of international trade requirements, hazardous material, DOT, OSHA and all applicable regulations
· Must have experience in the freight bidding process for some or all of the following:
Small parcel, LTL, TL, International (primarily container)
· Strong analysis skills in Excel and other software including report writing, combining data from multiple sources, data interpretation, comparing different scenarios. Use of data analysis to make recommendations.
· Working knowledge of MRP, WMS and TMS systems
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills. This person will be interacting with people at all levels and in all functions of the company and will need to be able to work in a team environment and influence others
· College degree required
