Position Purpose


The Sr Director Data Strategy and Enterprise Performance Management - IT is responsible for developing a technology roadmap and effectively leading a technology team in the selection, development, deployment, and operations of the data and analytics capabilities across Stericycle, addressing both internal operations as well as consumer facing experience. This role is responsible for architecting a data environment that improves access to information, eliminates redundancies, improves workflow, and enables information to be effectively extended to consumers. The Sr Director DS&EPM - IT provides the enabling technology to orchestrate effective data consumption across all service lines to provide a seamless experience for consumers.


Key Job Activities


Data and Analytics Thought Leadership:


  • Challenges current methods, processes, technologies, and business models for the purpose of insuring Stericycle does not remain stagnant in our evolution
  • Leverages Technology vendors and Industry Associations for insights and potential partnerships
  • Maintains an awareness of available and emerging technologies and rationalizes how Stericycle may leverage these technologies. Understands what is possible
  • Leads in creative and innovative thinking about how to leverage technology as an enabler to new and improved business models
  • Continually stays abreast of innovative advancements by our direct competition as well as industry best practices
  • Maintains an awareness of how other industries are applying technology solutions to address common themes of Customer Experience, Improved Operations and Finance/Collections


Data And Analytics Strategy


  • Effectively communicates rationale to Executive Team, service line leadership, and key stakeholders to gain support and excitement around emerging innovation
  • Develop strategies to mitigate barriers/risks to standardization, deployment, and acceptance of data and analytics
  • Work directly with Service Lines to understand and possibly influence business plans as technology enablers are considered
  • Develop critical success factors for each new technology or solution.
  • Create selection and design principals to both standardize technology where possible, but also accommodate differences where necessary
  • Actively participates in the Stericycle technology governance process to ensure adherence to agreed-upon data and analytics
  • Collaborate with Service Lines, Operations, Finance and Marketing to develop a Technology Roadmap of enabling projects
  • Develop architecture and strategies to provide consistent consumer experience across all data and analytics platforms


Data And Analytics Delivery


  • Implement processes, tools and staff for ongoing support and maintenance of new solutions
  • Work with development teams of Analysts, Product Owners, Developers and Technical Specialists
  • Assist with financial justification of new projects
  • Design solutions that merge the physical network interactions with data and analytics solutions to create seamless end user transitions for engagement
  • Identify and manage technology vendors and key partnerships
  • Select key enabling technology required to support the data and analytics transformation
  • Executes the Data and Analytics Roadmap by initiating and completing projects agreed upon with executive leadership
  • Follow IT department methodologies for initiating and executing projects

Preferred Education: in Bachelors or Equivalent


Experience (North America)


  • Experience selecting and managing vendors, contracts, and partnerships
  • The ideal candidate is expected to have both a strong technical/project background as well as a strong business acumen, with the ability to convey the transformational potential of emerging technologies and projects
  • Strong entrepreneur abilities within a large organization context; ability to execute on a vision and scale it up
  • Exceptional communication skills: ability to speak and write concisely and present data-driven proposals, to a variety of audiences including, but not limited to Executive Team, Vice Presidents, and physician leaders
  • Candidate has experience with rapid application or agile delivery methods
  • Strong soft skills – ability to actively listen, empathize, mentor, provide persistent support and teach
  • Candidate has experience with data and analytics like SAP S/4 Hana, BOBj, Analytics for Office (AO), Tableau, Alteryx, Webi and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)
  • 10+ plus years of Information Technology Management demonstrating increasing responsibilities and successful implementation of systems and solutions which improve operations and enhances consumer experience. Cross industry experience and Data and Analytics experience required
  • Must embrace and internalize the Stericycle core values and strategic alignments
  • Superior innovation skills; must be able to think creatively
  • Superior implementation and project management skills are required
  • Outstanding ability to work cross-functionally; duties will be dependent on ability to build relationships and maintain them
  • The ideal candidate is expected to have a background in leveraging data and analytics technologies to improve Finance, Operations and Consumer Experience
  • Ability to perform work in a highly matrixed environment; much of the work needed will be performed without direct authority
