Position Overview

We are seeking a Director in our S3 team in New York to support the growth and evolution of our growing S3 franchise at Apollo. S3 is Apollo’s Sponsor and Secondary Solutions business, providing a holistic set of financing and liquidity solutions across the yield, hybrid and equity spectrum to asset managers and limited partners. S3 is a natural extension of Apollo’s global investment platform, offering partner-oriented capital across asset classes including private equity, private credit, infrastructure and real estate. S3’s flexible solutions help private market participants meet their strategic goals at a wide range of capital costs.

In this role, the candidate will be heavily involved in developing and managing a broad range of business priorities alongside S3 leadership and various key stakeholders and will regularly have exposure to senior management. The candidate will work closely with the S3 Partners to drive near- and long-term strategy across equity and credit secondaries, and will liaise across Firmwide platforms including Finance, Legal, Tax, Compliance, Enterprise Solutions and Technology, Operations and Strategy to drive all non-investment initiatives. The candidate will work closely with the S3 and Apollo platform teams to build and enhance process and capabilities to ensure long-term scalability of the S3 business. A successful candidate will have a strong desire to grow and manage a new strategy on a leading asset management platform by leveraging their experience to pursue new ideas and execute on S3 and the firm’s strategic ambitions.

Primary Responsibilities

• Monitoring and Reporting: Lead portfolio monitoring foundation-build initiatives, leveraging new technologies where applicable; drive reporting initiatives and processes
• Cash Management, Hedging, Financing: Work closely with S3 Partners to develop and execute cash and credit management strategies across deals and portfolios in partnership with Finance
• New Business Development: Early involvement in product development to scope operational requirements for new initiatives
• Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in various LP related and internal processes, including spearhead responses / facilitating investors’ ODD diligence processes, fund and cash flow modeling, budget / P&L analyses, portfolio valuations, among others
• Senior Management Communication: Help with senior management meetings, business review meetings, and bi-annual fund outcome analysis
• Business Strategy: Work with S3 Partners and firmwide COOs to monitor business
• Investments: Work closely with the S3 Investment Team on structuring elements of transactions including hedging and leverage/financing; work closely with the team drive all aspects of the deal closing process for GP-led and LP-led portfolios
• Coordination with Apollo Enterprise Solutions: serve as a liaison between S3 and the Enterprise Solutions functions across Apollo (Legal, Tax, Compliance, Technology, Risk, Operations, Finance, etc.) to drive innovation and ongoing communication and ensure scalable foundational build and support for S3 over the near- and long-term
• Technology: Evaluate and drive additional platform technology applications relevant to S3 business to enhance efficiency and information access/availability

Qualifications & Experience

• Strong initiative and ownership of responsibilities – must demonstrate a proactive, positive attitude toward given tasks
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Team-oriented and collaborative attitude is a must; ability to work independently and be able to attract talent and lead and work with a dedicated team over the longer term
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rigorous work environment; demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
• 8-10+ years of relevant experience at an investment bank, asset manager, or in a corporate strategy role, ideally with a focus on related business lines of secondaries and private equity / market solutions
• Experience in financing and risk management around funds businesses, touching finance, tax, legal, operations, and other critical non-investment functions
• Self-starter with a willingness to execute projects on a small, nimble team
• Strong presentation and communication abilities, detail orientation and an exceptional technical skillset
• Exemplary interpersonal skills necessary to handle sensitive information and confidential situations

Pay Range

175,000 - 200,000

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
