Job Description

The Family Service Coordinator will function as a navigator of community resources. The FSC is responsible for providing social services for children and families enrolled in the Head Start child care partnership, including assisting parents with learning about community resources and goal-setting for encouraging parental involvement and participation in the child's education. This position will also engage parents in job training and employment activities including the development and achievement of employment goals. The Coordinator will utilize the Head Start Performance Standards and follow the strengths-based, person-centered models to facilitate parental and family engagement. This individual will also serve as navigator for parents, guardians and childcare operator, in applying for and recertifying child care subsidy eligibility. The FSC will conduct community outreach and education to raise awareness of childcare subsidies.

MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:


  • Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Development, Sociology, Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related fields
  • Minimum of 2 years of home visitation or outreach-related experience and training or equivalent experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be familiar with all aspects of the Head Start program including the Performance Standards, the program plans and all program policies.
  • Responsible for child recruitment and enrollment for the program year in each respective center by engaging in direct outreach.
  • Attend case coordinator meetings with other staff in order to fully integrate services.
  • Assist in the monitoring and reporting of family-related services and child operators, in applying for and annually recertifying eligibility for child care subsidy.
  • Make home visits as scheduled and when needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining current and accurate records as required by the program and insuring confidentiality.
  • Responsible for facilitating parent involvement in the center, including participation as volunteers in parent training sessions.
  • Assist in organizing and carrying out parent training activities and support groups.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and community partners in the provision of high quality services and resources to families by providing family support services to all families in caseload.
  • Provide monthly communication to parents on all updated project progress.
  • Develop and implement annual training schedule and courses for parents; prepare course materials for workshops and training
  • Perform other duties as assigned
