Location: Home-based, with travel-serving families located in Northeast Tennessee (Carter County & Greene County)
Salary: $40,000 - $45,000
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, College of Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (UT SWORPS) is looking for four experienced, skilled, compassionate social services professionals to join our new relative caregiver team for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services Northeast Region as Family Coaches.
The Family Coach position is perfect for an experienced social services professional with an engaging personality and a growth mindset who multi-tasks well, learns quickly, and adapts easily to changing priorities. SWORPS is looking for proactive professionals who are self-starters, who stay abreast of trauma-informed best practice, who are continuous learners, who enjoy partnering with and coaching adults and youth, and who facilitate community connections to support family well-being. Under the supervision of the University of Tennessee College of Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (UT SWORPS) Relative Caregiver Program Manager, Family Coaches will work together and with public and private community partners to provide a wide array of services aimed at stabilizing relative caregiver families and promoting their self-sufficiency and well-being.
This is a grant-funded project through the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. The position will be home-based and will serve families located in Northeast Tennessee. Ideal candidates will live in or near Sullivan, Washington, Greene, Hawkins, or Carter Counties. Interested applicants who live in and have a deep familiarity with one or more of these counties are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be willing and able to flex their schedule as needed to meet family and/or community needs and will normally work 40 hours per week, which may include occasional evenings or weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a closely related field with 8 years of relevant, direct practice experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is also required.
- Applicants should be proficient in developing and delivering presentations.
- Clinical skills (no license required) and crisis intervention skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work or a closely related field with 4 years of relevant. direct practice experience
- Previous experience working with youth and with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services is preferred.
