Summary

A Shift Engineer will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest room, meeting space, and front of the house areas, as well as back of the house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. A Shift Engineer will also perform preventive maintenance on major equipment and systems, using a windows-based computer system. Ability to read blueprints and schematics is preferred, along with basic trouble-shooting skills.

Responsibilities:

• Agree to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Trouble Shoot TV repairs
• Ability to assess guestrooms in order to determine what, if any, preventative measures need to be taken.
• Responsible for maintaining an inventory of materials to perform assignments.
• Comply with all company standards and policies, as established in the employee handbook.
• Proficient in basic Building Services Engineering; including, but not limited to: Wall vinyl repairs, tile work, grouting, caulking, plaster, painting,
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship throughout all projects.
• Other duties as required
• Make repairs to HVAC units, filters, coils, motors, thermostats and electrical controls.
• Perform basic carpentry work, furniture repairs.
• Actively communicate the status of guest rooms with both the Front Desk, Housekeeping & Engineering Manager.
• Hang fixtures.
• Organize and maintain all work areas.
• Complete daily maintenance checklist.
• Knowledge of power tools to use as per SOP.
• Maintain operation for interior/exterior of facility; including, but not limited to: Electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, heating & cooling, structural, ground care
• Ensure to follow through on all issues and discrepancies as pertaining to Engineering.
• Repair and or replace toilets, toilet seats, sinks, tub drains, shower bodies and all associated plumbing.
• Maintain records of completed work orders.
• Ensure that maintenance ticket requests are completed in a timely fashion.
• Attend mandatory meetings & hotel functions.
• Answer Radio and respond to guest calls.

Hourly Salary Range:

$29.63- 39.51

Qualifications

Education

A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 2-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.

Experience

Must have a minimum of 1-2 years Engineering experience, hotel setting strongly preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.Strong proficiency in overcoming obstacles and challenges. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective and professional verbal communications and have the ability to effectively complete projects for our property.

Licenses/Certifications

FSD certification preferred.

Sprinkler Standpipe certification preferred.
