Job Summary:

The Senior Statistician is responsible for advancing the leadership, statistical knowledge, and project base of the statistics and data science program to support a wide range of environmental projects and the organization.


The minimum base salary is $90,000-$120,000, plus annual bonus. Salary may vary based on education, knowledge and experience.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develops innovative ideas.
  • Provide guidance to internal WEST staff and external clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Presents at conferences.
  • Engages clients in discussions relating to areas in which WEST could provide support.
  • Works closely with WEST business development leaders in marketing, business development presentations, and client outreach.
  • Effectively works with teams in offices across the country.
  • Integrates scientifically defensible solutions into consulting strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Publishes peer-reviewed papers or white papers.
  • Thought leader; leads and/or supports research efforts.
  • Statistical review of proposals, analyses, and reports.
  • Manages complex projects.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

The successful candidate must be a self-starter who possesses:

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to work well under time constraints and meet deliverable targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively use Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ten (10+) plus years of demonstrated work experience as a consultant and as an applied statistician in the areas of ecology, fisheries or wildlife research Experience in advanced analytical techniques such as Bayesian hierarchical modeling, Markov decision support, integrated population modeling, spatial/movement analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Experience with statistical software.
  • Minimum of a master’s degree or PhD in Statistics or related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a history of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre- employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST’s minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver’s license will be required.
