Job Description
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading provider and advocate of high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care for all people, as well as the nation’s largest provider of sex education. With more than 600 health centers across the country, Planned Parenthood organizations serve all patients with care and compassion, with respect, and without judgment, striving to create equitable access to health care. Through health centers, programs in schools and communities, and online resources, Planned Parenthood is a trusted source of reliable education and information that allows people to make informed health decisions. We do all this because we care passionately about helping people lead healthier lives.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. seeks a Senior Specialist, Abortion Access Funding, to support national grants programs that improve access to abortion funding for patients in the United States. The position is within the Grants and Impact department of the Federation Engagement and Impact Division of PPFA. The Impact department provides a linking of strategy, grants data, and evaluation, which is critical to achieving the organization’s mission of maximizing access to equitable, sustainable, and expanded delivery of Planned Parenthood’s high-quality health care and education, especially for patients who face the greatest barriers.
Reporting to the Director of Grants Management and working closely with the Senior Director of Grants and Best Practices, this position will support the expansion and implementation of abortion funding programs at the national level. • Create repeatable processes, action plans and provide guidance to affiliates as necessary to ensure compliance and uniform administration of funding throughout the Federation.
  • Provide programmatic support for the implementation and expansion of Federation-wide abortion financial assistance and travel grants programs
  • Collaborate with the CAPS team at PPFA, and assess the needs in regards to the implementation of patient assistance funding.
  • Update and maintain guidelines and tools necessary for the implementation of patient funding for abortion.
  • Identify, draft, and disseminate communications, best practices, and guidelines for abortion financial assistance programs throughout the Federation.
  • Track and ensure the accuracy of affiliate reporting on abortion patient funds, and provide support to the Director of Grants Administration with the data analysis of these reports.

Delivery
:
  • Assesses how proposed programs align with PPFA strategic goals
  • Create and maintain data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts as they relate to CAPS grant programs.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with internal stakeholders; ensure timely documentation and communication with Affiliate and Federation staff.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and webinars as needed.
  • Carry out other assignments or special projects as assigned.
  • Manage the implementation of integrated grant initiatives for new and/or existing programs for patient financial support and other abortion access grants, ensuring fidelity to CAPS’ mission and values and to PPFA’s strategic goals.
  • Assist in the preparation of updates for the Board, CEO and other leadership teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective alignment of efforts and resources with program commitments to external partners, affiliates, and other departments within PPFA. This includes but is not limited to monitoring and communicating about grants updates, information, and collaboration points.

Engagement:
  • Present information to support timely project development/monitoring
  • Liaise with internal staff to organize and review the solicited grant programs and share information and lessons learned regarding e-funding.
  • Make the team aware of operational issues in carrying out the grantmaking process
  • Provide appropriate direction and follow-up to internal and external parties about Federation project opportunities.
  • Build relationships with Federation stakeholders to optimize the delivery of grants that support and further abortion access.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills; experienced with project management principles and tools
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; able to work effectively across multiple divisions internally, soliciting feedback and input from significant stakeholder groups nationally, and the ability to manage a complex network of stakeholders.

  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and ambiguous situations
  • Demonstrated understanding of and dedication to advancing abortion access in the United States, including within the context of reproductive health, rights, and justice frameworks.

  • Strong working knowledge of Excel; familiarity with quantitative data management and basic analysis.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including working with a multicultural workforce and individuals with a variety of cultural backgrounds and identities.
  • 3-5 years of directly related program coordination experience
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects and direct their movement across multiple teams and departments
