Health Access Outreach Specialist

HANAC, Inc. – originally founded by George Douris as the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee – is a New York City-based multi-faceted social services organization. The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City.

Salary: $16.50 Per hour (seasonal position until June 30, 2023)

Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 9:00 Am to 2:00 Pm (15 hours per week)

Major Functions/Accountabilities

• Coordinate with the program caseworker workshops and outreach strategy.
• Respond to telephone requests for information and follow up with callers regarding their requests for information.
• Act as a liaison between the clients and any city departments or service departments.
• Act as a client representative at the Medicaid office for elderly clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director relates to research and marketing campaigns
• Assist applicants in navigating the public health care system.
• Handle sensitive and personal information with an understanding and respect for client confidentiality.
• Conduct online outreach and coordinate online workshops for the community via HANAC Online radio podcast, Facebook live, and webinars.
• Provide education through online forums, presentations, and local media to community members on the various medical assistance programs and provide education on preventive services.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years experience working in social media applications and online webinars.
• Must have a PC, Laptop, Internet Access, and skills to use ADP.
• Ability to work both independently and with others to resolve issues and maintain composure and professionalism in an environment of changing and/or multiple priorities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, apply program guidelines, and follow procedures.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends required), position is part-time.
• Must be fully vaccinated and able to show proof of such vaccination by providing your original vaccine card or a copy of your vaccine card
• Bilingual English/ Spanish required.
• Must have demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and be familiar with entering data into online systems.
• An associate degree minimum from an accredited four-year university or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
• Must be familiar with Facebook Live, Google Drive, and social skills to conduct outreach via phone, whatsApp, and Facetime, create database documents in one drive, record audios in WhatsApp, content online, and able to conduct workshops online via Facebook Live or webinar formatting.
