Senior Research Associate – Upstream Process Development
Rejuvenate Bio is a spinout from George Church's lab at Harvard Medical School and the Wyss Institute with headquarters in San Diego, CA. We are using a convergent, multi-disciplinary approach, combining gene therapy, proprietary targets, and the animal health market to bring human age-related therapies to market. We are targeting the core drivers of chronic age-related diseases by unlocking the power of gene expression and epigenetic reprogramming to reverse pre-existing heart disease, metabolic disease, and kidney failure in humans.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to join our growing Process Development team! The Sr. Research Associate will be responsible for independently performing standard and advanced mammalian cell culture techniques as well as executing experiments to optimize the upstream cell culture process for the production of our AAV gene therapies. Ideal candidates will have experience with AAV or lentiviral production, transfections, and suspension or adherent cell culture (any mammalian cell line). This role reports to a Senior member of our Upstream Process Development team.
Responsibilities:
- Performing basic and advanced cell culture on a variety of cell lines (adherent and suspension).
- Performing detailed and accurate documentation of all experiments and laboratory practices.
- Plan time appropriately given a set of weekly goals.
- Working with a team to optimize our SOPs and upstream mammalian cell culture process.
- Accountable for on-time, high quality results and clear communication with supervisor.
- Performing related laboratory maintenance, such as ordering supplies, managing inventory, and documenting laboratory conditions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Following laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
- Manufacturing AAV and Lenti-virus.
- Executing experiments, independently and in conjunction with a small team in support of research studies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of mammalian cell culture experience (suspension or adherent) after undergrad.
- Strong work ethic, communication skills and goal-oriented personality.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to quickly become independent in daily tasks.
- B.S or M.S. in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, biomedical engineering, or related field required.
- Ability to discuss results and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Demonstrable experience keeping pristine records of experiments and DNA constructs produced using a digital laboratory notebook.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with suspension cell culture.
- Lentiviral or AAV production.
- Demonstrated experience leading or assisting on a project or set of experiments in an industry setting.
Compensation: $68k - $76k; exact salary, responsibilities, and job title will depend on experience.
