Smart Wires is currently looking for a Senior Manager of Product Quality based in St Petersburg, FL to support our Manufacturing, Supply Chain, & Projects and Services teams.


The Position


Under the direction of and reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the position is responsible for the global quality organization and will provide strategic and operational leadership to establish, improve, and maintain the quality systems, policies, standards, and procedures. The successful candidate will be able to operate at a strategic level with the senior leadership team, work in detail on quality fundamentals, and partner with all business units on ensuring the business delivers high quality solutions that deliver an exceptional customer experience, enabling our business mission.


This position requires a high degree of professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality. Tasks and projects that address broader organization-wide issues outside of the procurement department may be assigned. Qualified candidates are energetic, hands-on, excellent communicators, who have broad experience in developing integrated business management systems, covering engineering, manufacturing, supply chain management, projects, and services, and can thrive working as part of a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary global team.


Smart Wires provide unique patented technology and solutions for the electricity grid, modernizing and digitalizing mission critical assets, and enabling the global energy transition. Our technology solves common grid challenges like capacity for new renewable energy, grid strength and resilience for sector coupling and electrification, and grid stability for demand side innovation like distributed solar generation and e-mobility. By using software enabled power electronics that leverages the flexibility, power, speed and economy of silicon and software, combined with data modeling and analytics, we can solve near term challenges rapidly, with long term solutions that future proof the grid, enabling an innovative, net zero green economy. We call this re-imagining the grid.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Works with key leaders and stakeholders in the business to formulate and implement best-in-class quality strategies
  • Analyses key quality metrics, risks, and trends. Establishes strategies for setting compliance standards and addresses issues that may hinder achievement of company’s quality goals
  • Lead and instill a “sense of urgency” for product, project, service, and process improvement to meet and exceed customer requirements and best-of-class quality standards
  • Understand and integrate multiple quality disciplines and business-wide needs
  • Champion quality across the entire organization
  • Drive the quality roadmap and implementation of standards, methods, metrics, and procedures ensuring the quality of our systems and products comprising of mechanical, hardware, firmware, and software
  • Mature relationship with contract manufacturers for coordinating releases and supply-chain and quality-assurance processes
  • Develops, oversees, and executes the company’s global quality strategy
  • Manage multiple priorities across several programs
  • Advise senior management on action plans for events related to product quality and safety
  • Provide leadership within the Quality department through effective staffing, performance management and talent development that focus on hiring and retaining quality staff


Requirements


Required Skills and Experience


  • Advanced degree/MBA preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills: able to inspire and motivate team members along with ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce at all levels
  • Strong understanding of Agile methods
  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical, engineering, or quality discipline
  • Demonstrated expertise in improving development processes
  • Understanding of Failure-Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and/or engineering mission-critical systems with Safety-Integrity Levels 2, 3, or 4
  • Determined to make a positive, long-lasting impact on climate change
  • Outstanding team player who is comfortable with open-ended problems and ambiguity in a fast-paced, highly innovative, globally dispersed team
  • Experienced quality professional, preferably with a background in one of the following: systems engineering; mechanical engineering; electronics/electrical engineering; physics; materials science, reliability engineering, safety-critical software engineering; or related discipline
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present both business and technical information to a wide audience including customers, peers, and staff
  • Green Belt or preferably Black Belt in Lean, Six Sigma, Process Management and/or Quality
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively growing experience with a track-record of innovation in energy, industrial, aerospace, medical, or safety-critical industries

Location


This position will be located at our contract manufacturing site in St Petersburg, Florida.


Travel Requirements


Willingness to travel domestically and/or globally (up to 25%).

This includes adherence to all state and local regulations. Additional safety precautions may include the use of PPE gear as needed per site requirements.
