Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager is a key contributor to Akima’s operational excellence and process improvement initiatives. Reporting to Akima’s Senior Director of Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for the oversight and support of enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives across all our operating companies and within Akima’s shared services center. You will work with each business group and individual operating company quality POCs to ensure Akima’s quality and operational excellence standards are constantly maintained and refined.
This position will support the execution of quality management practices. This includes but is not limited to the implementation of Quality policies, practices, procedures, standards, and systems necessary to ensure the compliance of operations to customer and contract-specific requirements, as well as external quality certification/registration requirements. Working with Program/Project Managers and Operations Directors across the enterprise, you will promote quality awareness, guidance and training throughout the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction and guidance to others regarding processes, tools and technology related to quality including ISO and CMMI.
- Support the maintenance and expansion of ISO and CMMI accreditation in-line with business objectives.
- Implement and maintain a Quality Management program compliant with industry standards.
- Support preparation for 3rd party audits and help drive resolution of open items after the audit.
- Support customer and contract requirements in all aspects of documentation efficacy, technical writing, internal/external quality audits and training.
- Support contract management teams in developing, implementing and maintaining project/program quality control programs, including the development of quality plans; inspection systems covering the services of the contract; and processes to identifying deficiencies in the quality of services performed.
- Support and champion corporate-wide quality initiatives.
- Maintain best practices including our quality management toolset.
- Maintain certification and compliance with ISO and CMMI and provide leadership for continuous improvement activities.
- Engage in proposal development by writing, reviewing, and editing quality-related content.
- Work closely with the delivery and functional organizations to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.
- Maintain an internal audit schedule to coordinate reviews, lead periodic internal audits, and maintain quality records.
- Design, implement and deliver quality training for all employees including organizational best practices and continuous improvement.
- Mentor project/program management teams on the quality policy, processes, and requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with customers, employees, and government agencies at all levels.
- Proven track record of support to successful ISO 9001 and 20000-1 certifications and CMMI appraisals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Must be able to originate action to improve existing conditions and processes, identifying improvement opportunities, generating innovative ideas, and implementing solutions.
- Must have outstanding business acumen, using relevant enterprise, industry and market data to understand and improve business results.
- Ability to ensure that the customer perspective is a driving force behind business decisions and activities; crafting and implementing service practices that customer and organization needs.
- Strong planning and organization skills with the ability to establish courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently is required.
- 7 or more years of experience as a Quality professional.
- Ability to facilitate change effectively, encouraging others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to addressing problems and opportunities; and facilitating the implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills, clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
- 5 or more years of Quality leadership experience.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
- Must have exceptional decision-making skills, identifying and understanding risks and issues, developing an appropriate course of action and taking action.
- Must possess CMMI v2 and/or ISO audit experience. Lead Auditor certifications strongly desired.
Desired Qualifications:
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor Certification strongly desired.
- Program/project management: ITIL, PMP preferred.
- ISO AS9100 experience preferred.
- 4-year degree strongly desired.
- ISO 27001 experience preferred.
- CMMI V2.0 Level 3 experience preferred.
- ISO 20000-1:2018 experience preferred.
