Job Description
Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Senior Director of Finance & Strategy to support our Packaging business. In this role, you will be responsible for strategic planning, point-of-view development, and developing execution plans for various strategic initiatives. As the Senior Director of Finance & Strategy, you will demonstrate your expertise in economic thinking and analysis as you support and enable sound decision-making by executive leadership. Well-rounded technical and engagement skills will be must-haves for this business partner. You will develop and apply financial models, perform market and cost analyses, evaluate competing opportunities, identify new business opportunities, and determine key variables that impact business performance. In this highly visible role, the ability to build relationships, work cross-functionally, and communicate at a leadership level is required. We are seeking strong individual contributors and strategic thinkers. Success is measured by results.


Our Team The Packaging Finance & Strategy team provides support to business leadership on long-term financial, strategic, and investment opportunities to help drive growth and transformation aligned with the company's goals. The team works closely with various capabilities across the business to develop actionable insights to drive growth and profitability. Our finance & strategy team is comprised of a diverse group of individuals that have a passion for financial business partnering, strategy analytics, and lifelong learning. Each team member has a strong contribution and transformation mindset, strong technical and critical thinking skills, and is a confident communicator adept at business partnering.


Location We are located at GP HQ in downtown Atlanta, GA. We offer a flexible in office work schedule that can include some remote work. Georgia-Pacific Packaging & Cellulose is a global leader in the packaging business. We manufacture standard corrugated containers as well as many specialty-packaging products, for many industries. We are one of the U.S.’s largest suppliersof corrugated boxes, paper mailers and digital pre-print.


What You Will Do


  • Advance the Principle-Based Management® (PBM®) culture by applying and reinforcing the company’s Guiding Principles
  • Foster and build the financial acumen of internal customers through coaching and training
  • Provide insightful analysis and points of view to support investments in assets, products, innovation, and other ventures
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business leaders to enable improved decision-making and integration of analytical function within the business
  • Scenario analysis, business case analysis, and ad hoc projects as required
  • Assist business leaders in developing and presenting proposals to senior management
  • Support the division’s vision and strategy development process, including industry/market analysis, point of view development, and division level hold values
  • Embrace your role and execute responsibilities independently, within the appropriate risk framework
  • Identification and valuation of potential merger and acquisition opportunities


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


  • Progressive career experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, business development, business decision support, or related role(s)
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
  • Experience applying strong analytical and problem ‐ solving capabilities; including originating ideas, collecting data, establishing facts, performing analysis, drawing conclusions, and presenting a point of view to key stakeholders and business leaders
  • Experience performing discounted cash flow modeling, NPV, IRR, ROI and other valuation metrics


What Will Put You Ahead


  • Experience in market sizing, market analysis, market alternatives
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
  • Consulting, Investment banking, or equity research experience
  • Experience with data analysis/visualization tools beyond Microsoft Excel (i.e. Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, VBA, Hyperion, SQL, etc.)
  • Manufacturing or Packaging experience a plus!
  • Leadership experience (i.e. developing the capabilities of a team, leading transformation, being a driver of company initiatives, project leadership, or similar)
  • Experience in long-term forecasting (macro-economic) strategic planning
