Job Description
Surescripts serves the nation through simpler, trusted health intelligence sharing, in order to increase patient safety, lower costs and ensure quality care. Job Summary
Working under the direction of the Commercial Legal Team, the Senior Contract Specialist supports the Surescripts Legal, Compliance, and Government Affairs department with respect to contract management, including coordinating with the company’s business teams, prepare drafts of contractual documents, implement and maintain internal contracts tracking systems and databases, maintain records; in addition, contract analysis, contract negotiation (both independently and with the support of the Commercial Legal Team), and assisting in obtaining and maintaining state certifications.
Responsibilities
  • Works with various business units on large-scale company projects affecting customer contracts, coordinating logistics and anticipating and solving complex problems.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant Surescripts contractual procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by the Commercial Legal Team.
  • Collaborates with the Commercial Legal Team with respect to management of customer contracts (including, but not limited to customer Non-Disclosure Agreements, Agreements for Surescripts services, HIPAA Business Associate Agreements, and related amendments, addenda and technical documentation), as well as, to extent necessary, non-customer corporate and outside vendor contracts.
  • Maintains detailed and organized electronic files.
  • Manages electronic contracts databases (including SalesForce and DocuSign CLM) and prepares relevant contract attributes to track terms and conditions.
  • Negotiates customer contracts independently or in collaboration with an attorney, as well as, to extent necessary, non-customer corporate and outside vendor contracts under the supervision of an attorney.
  • Drafts and reviews contractual documents in response to contract requests or as required by the Commercial Legal Team under the supervision of an attorney.
  • Establishes and maintains turnaround times in order to assist business teams with setting customer expectations.
  • Maintains records of other matters undertaken by the legal department, as directed by the Commercial Legal Team.
  • Serves as legal department representative on teams to address various company-initiatives.
  • Analyzes contracts and reviews contract/customer history at the request of the Commercial Legal Team and to support company initiatives.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience drafting contractual documents based on templates and negotiating contracts under the supervision of an attorney
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing contracts for attorneys
  • 5+ years of experience in related, progressive roles
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with SalesForce - Demonstrated experience and proficiency using SalesForce for contract administration
  • Experience maintaining records and preparing responses related to data requests and third-party subpoenas for data.

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $103,151 - $126,073 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
