Senior Communications Specialist - Internal Communications

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is one of the world's most respected centers focused on cancer patient care, research, education and prevention. Communications Program Strategies and Consulting

• The role includes collaboration with leaders, technology teams, Internal Communications members, as well as others in Institutional Affairs (e.g., designers, videographers) to create print, online and broadcast materials.
• This position contributes regularly to established news channels, virtual or in-person forums and web content.
• Successfully consults, develops, manages, implements and measures communications projects for the technology and innovation enterprise, including coverage of timely, relevant system/application and cybersecurity information for employees.
• Develops, implements and manages communications plans and products to advance our employees' ability to do their jobs using available technology, systems and applications and to alert employees of planned and unplanned technology outages, which may occur outside of regular business hours.

Enhance Client Leadership Visibility

• Routine collaboration with team members to share themes and communicate high-priority, institution-wide goals and activities, in coordination with the Program Director, Internal Communications - Technology & Innovation.
• Implement, manage and maintain internal communications products.
• Maintains online content to align with these programs. Collects and routinely reports project metrics.

Writing and Editing

• Command of Associated Press style, as well as MD Anderson style.
• Regular contributions to our employee and patient communications channels to share our programs and services through articles, emails, presentations, scripts and videos, slides, flyers or other materials
• Clear, consistent writing and editing in all work product.

Other duties as assigned
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
Experience
Required: Four years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. With preferred degree, two years of required experience.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
