DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Security Manager, the Shift Supervisor oversees UC San Diego Health System security staff at Hillcrest and La Jolla Medical Centers to promote a safe and secure environment for UC San Diego Health System/Enterprise community.
Provides leadership and ensures compliance with quality service goals, services standards as well as Security & Medical Center policy and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the security management program. Participates in departmental budget planning and monitoring and will be able to assume duties in the Security Operations Center as needed.
This includes but not limited to acknowledging and monitoring access control alarms, CCTV activity, monitoring/managing radio communications and the infant security systems. In addition to employee oversight, the Shift Supervisor is required to manage the daily shift schedules and conduct timely evaluations.
Maintains daily document reviews to ensure all incident reports and daily activity reports are completed, thorough and grammatically correct. Oversight of employee/departmental equipment to ensure it is serviceable and well maintained. Ensures monthly training compliance and attendance are within departmental/Medical Center standards and issue appropriate disciplinary action as needed. This is a 24/7 operation, therefore, may be required to work weekends or part of the weekend. Job standards are to be performed at the PRACTITIONER level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) or more years of supervisory/lead experience in security or security related field, such as corrections, law enforcement, or military.
- Experience with and knowledge of regulations regarding hazardous materials, fire codes, building codes, and all other relevant safety requirements.
- California Guard Registration.
- IAHSS Supervisory Certification within six (6) months.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and solid decision-making.
- Proficient with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Taser Certification.
- Experience in Healthcare/Higher Education.
- BA/BS Degree; or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
- MOAB or CPI.
- Demonstrated public speaking skills, and the ability to lead training courses.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $48,900 - $102,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $23.42 - $48.99
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
