Heluna Health invites applications for a Field Supervisor position in the Center for Public Health Research (CPHR) at the San Francisco Department of Public Health. CPHR is a research unit that engages in a wide range of public health research including studies of populations at high risk for HIV infection. CPHR has developed methods and strategies for tracking the HIV epidemic that have been used locally and around the globe since the 1980s. The CPHR Investigators are global leaders in the epidemiology of HIV infection, HIV research training methods, and informing HIV prevention approaches.
In this role, the Field Supervisor will receive training and experience in various aspects of conducting epidemiological studies but especially focused on leading a team of Research Associates and in-person recruitment. The Field Supervisor will recruit, educate Research Associated and participants, and schedule members of the MSM population in San Francisco to better understand HIV prevalence and HIV risk behaviors in this population. Work hours will include afternoon, evening, and weekends including special events (street fairs, Pride, etc.). Successful candidates must be prepared to work late evening and weekend hours. Must have open and flexible availability to meet program needs.
This is a temporary, grant-funded, part-time (25 hours), benefitted position. Employment is provided by Heluna Health.
Pay range: $29.00 per hour

Study Activities
- Provide appropriate referrals for social services in the San Francisco Bay Area
- Maintain and document outreach and recruitment metrics accurately daily
- Conduct study outreach, educate potential participants about participation in the study, obtain informed consent, and schedule potential participants
- Participate in meetings and quality control activities
- Perform other duties as required
- Contribute to other Center for Public Health Research projects, as needed
- STI testing experience preferred
- Desired experience in research, including one or more of the following areas: conducting interviews, obtaining informed consent, maintaining confidential records in a research environment, social and behavioral research, virtual recruitment strategies
- HIV test counseling certification preferred
- Knowledge of, sensitivity to, and experience working with diverse communities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take responsibility for assignments with deadlines
- Knowledgeable of harm reduction principles
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and good judgment
- Knowledge of San Francisco’s community-based organizations and service providers preferred
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- Organized and ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task
- Fluency in Spanish desired
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
