Summary


Overview


The Sales & Marketing Intern reports to the Director of Sales supporting the marketing and sales functions essential to maximize room revenue according to hotel standards. Being able to multitask is critical and time management is key is this role.


The position will also work closely with the hotel’s partner on Public Relations, Digital and Marketing team on all digital programs including website content, B2B partners and the development and deployment of digital marketing campaigns that support The Chatwal, New York.


Responsibilities


  • Assist tactical marketing to support hotel promotions, including food and beverage and wellness campaigns, among others.
  • Maintain all third parties partner channels updated with promotion.
  • Answer guest inquiries about hotel services, facilities, and hours of operation.
  • Assist to develop promotional material and collateral, including flyers and presentations for sales team.
  • Help manage hotel content on third party platforms including business listings.
  • Support Social Channels on content development, photoshoots and postings.
  • Proactively manage digital marketing campaigns in conjunction with agencies across all channels including organic search, paid search, display, mobile and social.
  • Maintain availability calendar and communicate all relevant information to the operations staff.
  • Work as a liaison supporting the property photo and video shoots.
  • Manage all website updates and content for the hotel ensuring all information, promotions and photography are accurate at all times.
  • Contribute to the annual marketing plans and budget process. Review goals and action plan on a scheduled basis.
  • Participate in scheduled sales and/or marketing meetings, training and other strategy related meetings as required.
  • Prepare and execute strategic email campaigns to support the overall business goals of the hotel.
  • Attend and give input on trends and opportunities to maximize revenue.
  • Prepare and submit timely weekly reports to Director of Sales. Recognize and include communication of market trends and competitive intelligence.
  • Maintain accurate files and reports.
  • Book and block rooms using hotel standards for Group Rooming Lists and Booking Agreements.
  • To act as the brand guardian across all communication platforms, ensuring The Chatwal guidelines are adhered to at all times.
  • Answer all incoming calls promptly, in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner.
  • Handle all special reservations, to include V.I.P. reservations, packages, and discounts.
  • Complete forecasts as required by management.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Communicates promotional updates to all departments.
  • Ensure hotel photography is up to date across all platforms and that it adheres to The Chatwal’s visual identity standards.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

$18- $20

Qualifications


  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • OPERA PMS Preferred
  • Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. always Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • College course work in related field helpful.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
  • Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Computer knowledge/skills required.
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
