Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in technology industry risk management or compliance
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of relevant risk management or compliance experience in management consulting, financial services, or project management
  • Experience with enterprise-wide, cross-functional projects

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to use risk data to add value to business planning, strategies and risk management
  • Demonstrated experience influencing cross-functionally, and with executive-level audiences
  • Demonstrated strong analytic capacity and experience adding structure in a complex, ambiguous environment
  • Practical experience with industry accepted enterprise risk management frameworks
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field, or other risk management certification
  • Demonstrated capacity to analyze fragmented inputs, synthesize key attributes, and recommend/deliver effective balanced recommendations and outcomes

About the job

The Alphabet Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team's mission is to improve risk accountability and transparency across Google through a common governance framework and aligned risk management practices. As part of this team, you will play a key role in providing management and our board of directors assurance that we have an enterprise risk framework that is relevant, adequately frames, informs, monitors, and actions our risks in a fast-paced and ever-changing business.


As Risk Manager, you will support all aspects of the enterprise-wide risk management program, with a specific emphasis on supporting subject matter expert second-line risk stakeholders, and will interact with senior leaders across the organization. You will be responsible for the identification of enterprise-wide risks and partnerships with second-line risk teams in the reporting and monitoring of their respective risk management capabilities. You will also build sustainable risk management practices and capabilities throughout the organization through targeted advisory and training opportunities.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $153,000-$235,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive execution for cross-team initiatives and projects to drive alignment and increase velocity. Manage and prioritize complex projects simultaneously, proactively identifying issues and key milestones, and follow-up to determine resolutions and escalations needed.
  • Prepare summary reports for various levels of management, including executive and board-level audiences.
  • Analyze risk information, draw conclusions, generate alternatives and solutions, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Contribute to ERM’s strategic direction, including developing and optimizing policies, processes and practices. Provide advisory support for alignment on risk management capabilities and various strategic initiatives and ad hoc requests.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders ensuring a coordinated approach to risk management, including risk assessment, management, monitoring, and reporting; collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders regarding reporting regarding risk mitigation efforts.
