Risk Analyst (Provider Services) - Risk Management

The Risk Management Analyst (Provider Services) supports the Office of Integrated Risk Management by providing departmental expertise in program management of the Partners in Patient Safety Program, Claims Management of pre Litigated Cases, and facilitating claims activities surrounding depositions and subpoenas; facilitating the updates to open and closed professional liability cases; documentation of professional liability claims through incident reporting software; leading discussions and meeting on claim matters with committees, managing the source of information medical malpractice certificates, claims history reports, and coverage issues; coordinating with others in the Office of Integrated Risk Management Office in managing complex concerns;; administrative support,; developing targeted and timely reports, data entry, document/report generation and publication/presentation, conducting research, and other duties as assigned. In addition, this position will provide coordination of onboarding new health care entities and insurance programs. The Risk Analyst will also provide support for the Executive Administrator and Directors in the Office. This role is critical to the Office's commitment to managing the claims and provider support services necessary to the Keck Medicine system as a whole.

Essential Duties: • Planning and Organization - Assists with the coordination and integration of all activities of the Office of Integrated Risk Management both internally (intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and enterprise-wide level), and externally (physicians, attorneys, regulatory agencies), etc. • Communication – Collects and communicates significant and sensitive information and data to appropriate members of the department as directed. Handles communication RE: Claims, Attorneys, General Council, Patients, assists with calendars, schedules, meetings between department, patients and Legal. • Claims Management- Manages the BETA Heart Early Resolution process and leads various Committee Meeting. Facilitation of all physician depositions and subpoenas, preparation of legal fee schedules, accept and review all billing and Workers Compensation subpoenas for processing, medical malpractice certificates, claims history reports, malpractice coverage issues, appropriate notifications and assignments of legal documents, extension of malpractice coverage, responses to interrogatories, and ongoing communication with the malpractice insurance carrier. Facilities documentation process including submission of professional liability claims through the incident reporting software. • Provider Services – Manages the Partners in Patient Safety Program (PIPS) and serves as a patient liaison for communication leads between patients and physicians regarding early resolution matters. Provide tail coverage notices to physicians when they are leaving USC, coordinate with legal on physician representation, and facilitates all interviews between counsel and faculty or staff, provides counsel with medical, billing and radiology requests. Assists with risk investigation by locating witnesses and providing contact information to legal counsel. • Risk Management Operations- Provides program support to Executive Administrator of Risk Management consisting of meeting preparation meeting preparation, collaborative project management including material and slide preparation for presentations, represents Executive Administrator at meetings, department recruitment/onboarding process and provides administrative support to the Professional Liability Oversight Committee interim. Facilitates communication with internal and external contacts, and coordinates check requests and supplies for the office. Participates in Panel Interview process for candidate selection process. • Risk Management - Data Entry and coding validation into RMS or other pending RM software. Lead discussions around Case Probabilistic modeling and Return on Investment studies. Assist with developing targeted and timely reports, data entry, document/report generation and publication/presentation. • Miscellaneous - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Req High school or equivalent • Req Bachelor's degree Degree in a related field • Pref Master's degree Degree in a related field • Req 3-5 years Experience in risk management setting, claims management, quality, performance improvement, patient relations, safety or other related healthcare position/setting • Pref Knowledge of JCAHO, Title 22, and CMS regulations pertaining to healthcare. • Pref Knowledge of principles, practices, processes, quality assessment, performance improvement functions, and legal concepts related to healthcare or related field. Required Certifications: • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) • Pref LEAN or Six Sigma Certification. The annual base salary range for this position is $68,640.00 - $112,370.00.
