Organization Overview

Freedom Forward is working to improve systems in San Francisco to make the commercial sexual exploitation of youth less likely and less harmful, and ensure that those who have experienced it have opportunities to thrive. Guided by the voices of young people, we develop collaborative pilots that address systemic failures that lead youth to experience exploitation. We bring together stakeholders to pilot innovative approaches that will allow young people in San Francisco the freedom to thrive.

The HYPE Center (“Helping Young People Elevate”) is a multi-service drop-in center for Bay Area young people ages 14-24 designed by system impacted & survivor youth voices. The HYPE Center advocates for ALL young people to thrive by connecting them to the self-identified services, providers, and resources they want all in ONE safe space!


About the Role

This position will coordinate and deliver HYPE Center’s on-site basic needs resources, including clothing closet, hygiene supplies, new-parent items, food pantry, and laundry and shower access. This position works in-person, on site Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays and evenings as needed.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain member wish lists and ensure available resources reflect member needs and interests
  • Ensure youth member database information is accurate at all times, duties include but are not limited to:
  • Attend outreach and recruitment efforts on Fridays, and community events as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of resources and storage areas
  • Other inventory support as needed
  • Coordinate on-going HYPE Center purchasing, receiving and inventory in collaboration with Center Coordinator and Operations Manager, duties include but are not limited to:
  • Maintain accurate inventory of available basic-needs items and ensure low items are restocked in a timely manner
  • Other data tracking and documentation as needed
  • Document all resource delivery
  • Engage in regular communications to team members, youth members, service providers and external partners for relevant information about the HYPE Center resources, in various forms of communication and in a timely manner.
  • Manage scheduled appointments and drop-in requests from members
  • Support building check-in and new member documentation
  • Serve as point of contact for HYPE Center’s basic needs resource delivery during business operating hours, duties include but are not limited to:
  • Deliver resources using a compassionate, trauma-informed customer-service approach
  • Support front desk staffing and visitor tours as needed.



Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Relevant experience working in a highly collaborative environment with the ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail oriented to ensure the accuracy of reports and data.
  • Relevant experience working in community with young people and the ability to relate to their needs.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a retail or community-serving space.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, problem solve, and manage time effectively and work with minimal supervision.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude with the ability to adapt to changing project demands.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Google, Slack and other applications as required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and passion for serving others.
  • Experience or deep interest in delivering impactful, mission-driven work serving vulnerable populations.
  • Comfortable and adept with verbal and written communication.

This role will require strong customer-service skills, the ability to build trust and rapport, attention to detail, the ability to manage and prioritize between multiple projects, excellent organizational skills, the ability to work within a team environment, as well as the ability to work independently.
